 About the role 

We're looking for a Lead Application Engineer to own the technical delivery of Appian application development workstreams — from solution design and application development through testing and deployment — working with international clients across a distributed, global delivery environment. You will drive the technical execution of our low-code application strategy, provide technical leadership on Appian solutions, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers. 
 

• →Lead the design, development, and implementation of Appian, ensuring alignment with business requirements, architectural standards, and best practices 
• →Own the technical architecture of complex enterprise applications, driving integration strategies and ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions 
• →Partner with business stakeholders to analyze complex business challenges, define solution approaches, and oversee delivery throughout the full application lifecycle 
• →Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring the successful delivery of client-focused solutions 
• →Mentor and develop engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, code reviews, and technical leadership, helping to build a high-performing delivery team 
• →Establish and promote best practices, development standards, and governance frameworks across Appian and low-code application delivery engagements. 
• →Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and Appian platform capabilities, continuously enhancing service offerings and delivery methodologies. 
• →Lead technical discovery, research, and solution assessments, contributing to proposals, estimates, client recommendations, and strategic deliverables. 

• 8+ years of experience in application development, including 5+ years of hands-on experience with Appian solutions and applications 
• Strong expertise in Appian development, including SAIL, process models, records, integrations (REST/SOAP), data modeling, security, and application deployment 
• Proven experience designing and delivering complex enterprise-scale applications and integrations 
• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring developers in a fast-paced delivery environment 
• Strong understanding of software architecture, application lifecycle management, and Appian development best practices 
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions 
• Experience working directly with clients and stakeholders, providing technical leadership and trusted advisory support 
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills 
• Experience working in Agile and distributed global delivery environments 
• Fluency in English 
• Appian Senior Developer, Lead Developer, or equivalent certification preferred 

• Classical programming and scripting experience with IT solutions, preferably with .NET, C#, VBA, or Java  
• Knowledge and experience with other low-code platforms (e.g. Mendix, Outsystems, Bizagi optional) 
• Willingness and ability to travel as required
