Summary

SafetyChain is building the next generation of enterprise software for the food & beverage supply chain—and the analytics layer is central to that vision. We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to own the reporting and insights infrastructure that helps plant operators, quality managers, and executives make faster, better decisions. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, BI, and applied AI—and you'll help define what "great analytics" looks like at SafetyChain.

Who We Are

SafetyChain is a rapidly scaling B2B SaaS provider revolutionizing plant management for Food and Beverage manufacturers by improving yield, maximizing productivity, and ensuring compliance. Our client base includes renowned brands like Albertsons, Clif Bar, Tyson Foods, and Whole Foods. Join a dynamic, collaborative team driven by innovation, agility, and rapid growth.

What You'll Do

You'll own the design and delivery of SafetyChain's analytics and reporting capabilities—from raw data to production dashboards to predictive insights. This includes:

  • Architecting and managing analytics infrastructure across Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake, including lakehouses, warehouses, and semantic layers.
  • Building reliable, well-modeled data pipelines that serve both operational reporting and exploratory analysis.
  • Designing and delivering dashboards and reports that give plant operators and business leaders clear, actionable visibility into their operations.
  • Defining data models, metrics, and KPIs in close partnership with Product, Customer Success, and domain experts.
  • Identifying opportunities to apply AI and ML to analytics use cases—predictive quality trends, anomaly detection, LLM-assisted data summarization, and more.
  • Establishing standards for data quality, governance, and documentation that scale as the platform grows.
  • Partnering with engineering teams to ensure clean data contracts between operational systems and the analytics layer.
  • Contributing to an "office-first when collaboration matters" culture that values high-bandwidth problem solving and clear ownership.

What You Bring

You don't need to be a specialist in every tool in the stack—but you must be the kind of engineer who thinks in systems, communicates in outcomes, and builds things that last.

Core Experience

  • 7+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI—with hands-on experience building production-grade reporting systems.
  • Deep expertise with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, Power BI integration) and/or Snowflake (warehousing, data sharing, performance tuning).
  • Strong data modeling skills—dimensional modeling, semantic layers, and metric frameworks.
  • Experience building dashboards and reports for operational or enterprise users using Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
  • Proficiency in SQL; experience with Python for data transformation or analysis is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
  • Ability to design clean data contracts between source systems and analytics consumers.
  • Experience with data governance, lineage tracking, and documentation practices.

AI & ML Exposure

We're not hiring a data scientist—but we want someone who can recognize where AI creates leverage in an analytics context and partner with our AI/ML team to implement it. This might include:

  • Integrating predictive models into reporting workflows (e.g. flagging at-risk batches, forecasting yield).
  • Using LLMs for natural language querying, automated insight generation, or data summarization.
  • Working with ML pipelines to ensure clean feature data and interpretable outputs.

How You Think (the part we screen hardest for)

  • You design for the end user, not the data model—insights should be obvious, not excavated.
  • You default to outcome-based decisions over theoretical purity.
  • You care about data trust: if users don't believe the numbers, the dashboard doesn't matter.
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and can move from "we need visibility into X" to a working solution without hand-holding.
  • You're energized by a team of peers who challenge each other and move fast.

Why Join Now

You'd be joining at the moment the next-gen SafetyChain platform becomes real. The analytics layer is foundational—not an afterthought—and you'll have genuine influence over the architecture, tooling, and data culture of the entire product. This is a rare opportunity to build something serious, in a domain that matters, without the usual legacy ballast.
