We're hiring a senior developer/architect to lead the development and QA teams and manage the project itself across the next phase of a large-scale, high-traffic digital platform modernization: migrating a headless Next.js + CMS stack onto Vercel, in parallel with a personalization/experimentation build shipping on the current infrastructure. You'll direct both teams responsible for this engagement, own technical oversight across every workstream, run the project plan and tracking, and sit client-facing co-designing the architecture in real time with the client's engineering leadership and their UX/UI implementation partner.

  Lead both the development team and the QA team across the full engagement — assigning work, reviewing implementation, setting the technical and quality bar, and acting as the escalation point across all workstreams.

  Own project management for the initiative: maintain the project plan and timeline, run the Linear-tracked exit-criteria checklist through weekly review, and report status and risk to stakeholders.

  Direct QA and acceptance testing for the Payload-on-Vercel migration build (cold-start/connection-pool behavior, Jobs Queue rebuild, bulk-operation limits) — the build is executed by another party; this role owns sign-off, not the implementation itself.

  Direct QA across the entire initiative — every workstream in the migration and personalization build passes through development and QA review before it's considered done.

  Define and validate performance budgets for the new architecture (TTFB, LCP, INP, CLS, personalization latency, tentpole-load behavior), and test the Vercel build against them under simulated peak traffic.

  Decide and stand up observability tooling — infrastructure monitoring, uptime checks, and application performance/error tracking — instrumented on Vercel from day one.

  Own disaster-recovery design and testing for the new Vercel/Neon topology.

  Support cost modeling — projecting Vercel usage cost at steady-state and traffic-spike volume against a proposed dollar ceiling.

  Co-lead security and privacy validation of the new architecture — access management, secrets, application security, edge/runtime security, monitoring, and consent/privacy compliance (GDPR/CCPA) via OneTrust — alongside client stakeholders.

  Partner with the client's UX/UI implementation team on caching correctness (cache-hit/miss behavior, cross-visitor isolation, invalidation) as part of the migration test suite.

  Act as direct technical point of contact with client-side engineering and product leadership, translating architecture tradeoffs into terms non-technical stakeholders can act on.

• 7+ years of experience in full-stack development, software architecture, or similar roles, with hands-on experience in Vercel, Next.js/React, headless CMS, GraphQL, and Postgres (Neon is a plus).

• Experience leading development and QA teams, setting technical standards, reviewing implementations, and owning acceptance criteria and deliverable quality.

• Experience in technical project management, including planning, tracking, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Linear experience is a plus.

• Knowledge of QA, testing, performance, observability, disaster recovery, security, and privacy, ideally with OneTrust and GDPR/CCPA knowledge.

• Experience migrating or re-architecting high-traffic production systems, particularly in cloud/edge environments. Cloudflare Workers and AWS are a plus.

• Knowledge of personalization, experimentation, CDP/identity systems, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus.

• Experience working with clients, agencies, and external teams, with fluent English and strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, and cross-functional environments, making technical decisions and translating architectural trade-offs into business needs.
