At Scout AI, we’re developing Fury, the first robotic foundation model for defense, to give U.S. forces overwhelming, adaptable, and autonomous power across every domain. Fury enables human operators to command fleets of robots through natural language, and empowers those machines to sense, decide, and act together as one. We are seeking an AI Technician to join our team. You will play a critical role in supporting AI and machine learning initiatives through data preparation, model training assistance, and ongoing data management. As an AI Technician, you will collaborate closely with our engineering team to contribute to our AI development efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to be hands-on with real-world AI applications and play a key part in scaling our technical capabilities.
We’re a startup. You’ll be moving fast, context-switching daily, and helping define the culture and process as we go. This is a rare opportunity to come in early and architect the future of defense.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Own the data preparation pipeline and curate high-quality datasets—enabling robust training and validation of advanced AI models.
- →Build and maintain dashboards to track dataset composition and training coverage.
- →Monitor and analyze model performance, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
- →Leverage lightweight tooling or scripts to assist in data preprocessing, cleaning, and validation workflows.
- →Support internal documentation and versioning of datasets, experiments, and training workflows to ensure reproducibility.
- →Conduct applied research into external datasets, simulation environments, or benchmarks relevant to autonomy and robotics.
- →The candidate will also support recruiting for technical roles, contribute to company-wide data analytics efforts, and assist in shaping future business opportunities.
Requirements
~1 min read- 2+ years of professional experience in a technical or research-driven role
- Strong proficiency with Google Sheets
- Experience working with large datasets, particularly visual or time-series data (e.g., video logs, sensor logs, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience working cross-functionally with an engineering team
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
