Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager (Toronto), the Operations Manager (Toronto) is responsible for supporting our donor and non-profit networks in Toronto Mississauga and Brampton. This role will support our Direct Delivery and Pickup programs, as well as the Second Harvest Food Rescue App, and manage special annual programs including Feeding Our Future and Harvest Kitchens. This role within the Toronto Operations department will also develop, implement, and manage initiatives that drive Second Harvest’s community impact in Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton.

We are looking for someone that is partnership minded, driven by positive community development and social change, and who has community programming and food sector knowledge.

 

  • Build and maintain strong regional partnerships, collaborating with many stakeholders including food donors, logistics partners, and non-profit organizations to maximize the impact of Second Harvest’s operations in the catchment area of Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton
  • Collaborate with our various internal teams to support our core food redistribution mission, including different programs such as Direct Delivery and Pickup, Harvest Kitchens, Feeding Our Future, and our Food Rescue App.
  • Provide staff management as needed to support team growth and program delivery, including coaching, goal setting, and fostering a positive team environment.
  • Provide best-in-class customer service to food donor and non-profit partners by resolving questions and/or concerns in a timely manner.
  • As a regional ambassador for Second Harvest, engage with diverse audiences to deliver presentations and participate in speaking engagements with the goal of increasing awareness and engagement across the Toronto, Brampton and Mississauga.
  • Identify opportunities to grow Second Harvest programs and collaborate on special projects and new initiatives.
  • Assess capacity gaps and opportunities to improve our food rescue operations, including our Direct Delivery and Pickup Programs, the Second Harvest Food Rescue App, Harvest Kitchens, and Feeding Our Future. Work cross functionally to identify issues and improvements to enhance our overall food rescue operations.
  • Oversee ongoing reporting and data collection to support continued growth and optimization.
  • Support our Training and Education program by facilitating best practice workshops to Second Harvest stakeholders as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

  • Detail-Oriented & Organized: Maintains a high level of accuracy while managing multiple priorities and delivering quality outputs.
  • Possession of a valid Class G driver’s license, with the readiness to travel across Toronto, Brampton & Mississauga as needed.
