We have an immediate opening for an OR/PACU Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Shady Grove Fertility in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

  •  Schedule: Monday through Friday, from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, with one weekend a month

In this role, the OR/PACU Licensed Practical Nurse will:

  • Support and enforces organizational policies
  • Coordinate patient care during ASC/PC pre op/post op period and for Transfer area related procedures.
  • Assess the patient for the appropriate level of care to be delivered under the direction of the ASC/PC RN.
  • Maintains awareness of patient condition and communicates changes in status to an ASC/PC RN as appropriate
  • Initiate the emergency response team as needed when a patient emergency arises.
  • Provides patient instructions, prescriptions, and any other paperwork as needed under the direction of an ASC/PC RN
  • Communicate problems, changes in protocols, or any other specific patient issues with an ASC/PC RN and/or the primary physician
  • Coordinate and manage daily workload to utilize time and abilities efficiently
  • Maintain thorough, complete and appropriate documentation in the patient medical record
  • Teach patient post procedure education as needed/assigned under the direction of the ASC/PC RN
  • Provide the ASC/PC team with patient care assistance as needed: turning over PACU bays, washing and processing surgical instruments, assisting with HSG patient preparation and/or post procedure care under the direction of the ASC/PC RN
  • Complete specimen order entry and process according to department policy and protocol
  • Assist as scrub technician in the OR as assigned. Knowledgeable of proper sterile and aseptic technique and setup/use of equipment
  • Plan for and prepare rooms for all procedures
  • Review case schedule to ensure necessary instruments, supplies and equipment are available and ready.
  • Assist in positioning and draping the patient for procedure
  • Demonstrate knowledge and technical skill in the care and use of instruments, supplies and equipment used during a surgical procedure
  • Complete accurate instrument and sharps count with Circulating RN
  • Clean and cares for all equipment according to OSHA guidelines
  • Perform room cleaning and turnover of OR after each procedure including cleaning of instruments, removing trash, replacing trash bags and wiping the tables
  • Wash, dry and package instruments for autoclaving. Turn on autoclave and clean per protocol
  • Provide ultrasound guidance under physician’s supervision during transfers and instruct patients in transfer procedure
  • Clean OR/Procedure rooms at the end of each day
  • Perform all work in accordance with accepted standards of sanitation, safety and proper handling techniques, including sterilization and disinfection procedures
  • Set up, stocks, and maintains supplies; performs inventory reviews as directed by supervisor and/or RN Team Leader
  • Document patient care services utilizing daily logs, patient records, and appropriate outside laboratory forms
  • Utilize the computer in entering labs and printing labels. Ensures orders for lab work are in place. Contacts primary nurse for order if needed
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other health care support if needed

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN Nursing program
  • Current LPN licensure for the state of employment with a minimum of 2 years of women’s health experience preferred
  • Current CPR certification, or acquire within 1 month of employment
  • Strong technical and clinical assessment skills
  • Ability to make independent judgments with respect to the appropriateness of care to be delivered.
  • Able to prioritize caseload management
  • Demonstrated teaching abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary group
  • Flexibility with work schedule including weekend and holiday coverage
