Lead Full Stack Engineer

Sierra Studio is a product development company with a focus on AI – we turn our customers' ideas into reality! We're based in Los Angeles, but our teammates live all around the world. As a Lead Fullstack Engineer, you'll lead engineering for one or more initiatives at Sierra. You'll architect the stack, write clean code, and work with your teammates to ship great products you're proud of. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to take products from idea to production. As an early employee at a startup, you'll also be part of creating our culture!

Our ideal candidate is a generalist software engineer who loves to learn new things fast! We care about the ability to learn quickly and lead projects from idea to production more than any specific skills.

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including leading projects or people — formally or informally (tech lead, mentoring, owning a project end-to-end)

• Experience with end-to-end product development, from idea to production

• Growth mindset: able to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and more

• Comfortable communicating in English, written and verbal (our clients are US-based)

• Frontend experience: TypeScript, React

• Backend experience: TypeScript or Python, Node.js or FastAPI

• Experience with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc)

• Ability to accurately estimate timelines and scope

• Experience using AI tools for coding (e.g. Cursor)

• Experience building products using Generative AI / LLMs (e.g. using OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, etc)
