Your mission at Sistema.bio:

The Agronomist and Project Coordinator will be the local technical anchor for our Agri Innovation Center (AIC) in Senegal. As the technical lead, you will support AIC setup and operations, from bioslurry-based regenerative input production, composting, and quality checks to farmer training and field demonstrations, working closely with partners, laboratories, regulators, and cooperatives to ensure smooth technical implementation and timely delivery of project activities. 

You’ll be in charge of:

• AIC Setup & Operations: Support the setup and day-to-day technical operations of the Agri Innovation Center, including production planning, composting systems, liquid production, storage, quality checks, and demo activities, with a monthly operations report covering production, raw materials, demo progress, budget, risks, and issues.
• SOPs & Quality Control: Implement and maintain SOPs, batch records, and quality control logs for the bioslurry-based regenerative input range, covering raw material sourcing, preparation, production, storage, and documentation, and review them each production cycle with the Agri Innovation team.
• Farmer & Partner Training: Train farmers, cooperative staff, and field teams on compost making, safe bioslurry handling, direct slurry use, regenerative input application, soil health practices, and crop observation, keeping complete records of attendance, topic, location, gender disaggregation where required, photos, and follow-up actions.
• Field Demonstrations: Plan and monitor field demonstrations, crop protocols, product application schedules, farmer feedback, and the field performance of bioslurry-based regenerative inputs.
• Testing, Certification & Regulatory Coordination: Coordinate soil testing, product testing, lab follow-up, certification documentation, and regulatory submissions with local laboratories, regulatory bodies, and Sistema.bio technical teams.
• Partner Coordination & Reporting: Work closely with SheTOSS, UEFAS, cooperatives, laboratories, and the Senegal Project Manager to support activity planning, field evidence, training and production records, donor reporting inputs, and quarterly monitoring updates.
• Commercialization Support: Support the commercialization of the products developed by engaging input buyers and other relevant stakeholders, including farmer organizations, private companies, and local and national authorities.

More about YOU:

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field; a Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
• 3–8 years of hands-on experience in composting, bioslurry, biofertilizers, biopesticides, farmer training, or agricultural project implementation.
• Experience planning, budgeting, and managing agricultural or field-based projects from initiation to close-out, with partner and stakeholder relationship management and capacity-building experience.
• Hands-on experience applying fertilizers, bio-inputs, and crop protection products according to agronomic guidelines.
• Ability to engage farmers, cooperatives, field teams, and government stakeholders through farm visits, trainings, and demonstrations.
• Strong data collection, record-keeping, project reporting, and monitoring & evaluation skills.
• Curious, adaptable, and hands-on, with a passion for science, innovation, and farming communities.
• Good communication skills, willingness to travel, and ability to work independently in field-based environments
• Fluency in English and French is mandatory, and knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.

Other important details:

• This is a full-time position based in Senegal.
• Starting as soon as possible.
• The role may require occasional travel within Senegal or out of the country.
• Reports to Head of Agri Innovation | Product & Innovation, with a dotted line to the Partnerships Manager - North & West Africa.
