Content Operations Manager
- Department: Marketing
- Reports to: Director of Strategic Marketing
Role Description
As Content Operations Manager on the Marketing team, you'll be the person who keeps our content engine running smoothly—moving work from draft to published on schedule, on brand, and free of errors. This role combines editorial oversight with hands-on production: you'll manage the content pipeline, coordinate across writers, designers, and stakeholders, and ensure nothing sits stalled or slips through the cracks. You'll also write when needed—landing pages, email copy, short-form pieces—but the core of this job is running the system, not filling it. If you're organized, fast, and get genuinely bothered when something sits in the wrong status for three weeks, we'd like to talk.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Pipeline & Editorial Operations
- Own the full content lifecycle calendar in our project management system—scoping work, prepping briefs, drafting, reviewing, revising, approving, scheduling, and publishing—keeping statuses accurate and deadlines visible
- Coordinate between writers, designers, SEO, and internal stakeholders so work moves forward without stalling on approvals or assets
- Manage relationships with external agencies: scoping work, writing and prepping briefs, holding them to turnaround time, and reviewing what comes back against our standards
- Edit all content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and structure before it goes live
- Manage a living BriteCo Style Guide, Editorial Guide and communicate any key changes with all needed teams
- Enforce our brand guide across everything we publish: voice, terminology, formatting, disclosure language, and product claims
- Catch factual and compliance issues—especially around coverage terms and pricing—before content reaches customers
- Define and enforce quality standards for AI assisted work through checklists and review gates covering fact integrity, sourcing, structure, readability, tone, and compliance
- Test new AI tools and techniques as they appear, and adopt the ones that prove reliable and repeatable in practice
Email Marketing & Performance
- Build, QA, and send emails & partner newsletters in our platform, proofing and testing across clients and devices before every send
- Manage send schedules and run post-send checks to catch any issues quickly
- Review email performance after each send—opens, clicks, engagement patterns—and bring clear observations back to the team
- Propose and run tests on subject lines, send times, layout, and CTAs, tracking whether results hold up over time and turning learnings into standing improvements
SEO & Content Strategy Support
- Apply on-page SEO fundamentals during review: titles, meta descriptions, headers, internal linking, and schema markup
- Audit existing content for gaps, decay, and refresh opportunities
- Assist with data pulls that support blog posts, research content, and strategic planning
- Collaborate with the content team to shape the content roadmap
- Write landing page copy for campaigns and partner programs
- Produce email copy, site updates, CTAs, and other short-form marketing content as needed
- Assign and edit material for external websites and partner blogs, meeting all deadlines
Qualifications:
- 4–6 years in content operations, content marketing, editorial production, or a similar role, with experience owning a publishing process end to end
- Genuinely strong editing skills—you catch what other people miss and can explain why something needs to change
- Competent, efficient writer who produces clean marketing copy without extensive revision cycles
- Hands-on WordPress experience: you can publish and format posts, manage media, handle categories and tags, and make routine page edits without developer support
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and how they apply to editing and publishing decisions
- Experience with an email marketing platforms (Ontraport, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, or similar) and comfort building, testing, and analyzing email campaigns
- Basic comfort with data—pulling numbers, working in spreadsheets, and sanity-checking figures before they're published
- Detail-oriented in a way that shows up in your work: you keep systems current, flag issues early, and don't let things slip
