Location: South Africa (Remote)
U.S. work hours 

We are seeking a HR Specialist to own and manage payroll, compliance, and employee benefits administration.

This role will serve as the primary HR lead for the organization, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a smooth employee experience across the company.

This is a hands-on position requiring someone who can both manage and execute.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll across applicable jurisdictions

  • Coordinate with external payroll providers as needed

  • Maintain payroll records and reporting documentation

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and labor regulations

  • Manage employment agreements and contractor documentation

  • Maintain HR policies and ensure adherence across the company

  • Stay current on regulatory updates affecting payroll and benefits

What We Offer

Manage employee benefits programs (healthcare, retirement, leave policies, etc.)
Act as liaison with benefits providers
Handle enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries
Evaluate and recommend improvements to benefits offerings
  • Maintain employee records and HR systems

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes

  • Partner with leadership on HR best practices

  • Assist with employee relations matters as needed


  • 3+ years of HR experience with strong payroll ownership

  • Demonstrated experience managing compliance and benefits programs

  • Experience supporting companies with international or cross-border payroll is a plus

  • Strong understanding of employment regulations and HR best practices

  • Experience working in remote environments


  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Proactive and self-sufficient

  • Comfortable operating independently as the primary HR lead

  • Strong communication skills
