About the Client:

Our client is a Florida & Georgia-based law firm with an active and growing media production arm supporting a slate of feature films and reality television projects. The team operates at the intersection of legal precision and creative storytelling, requiring professionals who can balance artistic vision with compliance and execution.

About the Role:

This is a full-scope role — from original score to licensing, clearance to sync delivery. If you think in both creative and legal terms, and you know how to take a scene from temp track to final licensed cue, we want to hear from you.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Compose and produce original music for feature films and unscripted/reality TV formats
  • Create themes, underscore, transitions, and mood-driven compositions
  • Adapt compositions to match creative direction and editorial needs
  • Research and source existing music across libraries, independent artists, and commercial catalogs
  • Identify tracks that align with creative vision, tone, and budget constraints
  • Present curated music options to production teams
  • Negotiate sync and master licenses with rights holders, publishers, and record labels
  • Manage end-to-end music clearance processes independently
  • Review agreements and ensure compliance with usage rights
  • Deliver fully cleared and properly formatted music cues for:
    • Broadcast
    • Streaming platforms
    • Theatrical releases
    • Film festivals
    • Ensure all deliverables meet platform-specific technical and legal requirements
  • Track and manage music budgets across multiple projects
  • Identify potential clearance risks early and propose cost-effective alternatives
  • Balance creative needs with financial constraints
  • Work closely with directors, producers, and picture editors
  • Translate creative direction into music strategy and execution
  • Support post-production timelines with efficient turnaround and communication

Required Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of experience in music composition, supervision, or related roles
  • Proven credits in film and/or reality TV projects (must provide examples)
  • Strong ability to compose original music across multiple genres and styles
  • Deep understanding of sync licensing, including master and publishing rights
  • Experience negotiating licenses and managing music clearance independently
  • Familiarity with delivery requirements for streaming platforms and broadcast networks
  • Strong editorial instincts and understanding of how music supports storytelling
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced post-production environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working across both scripted and unscripted content
  • Established relationships with music libraries, publishers, or licensing partners
  • Knowledge of PROs (Performance Rights Organizations) and royalty structures
  • Background in both creative composition and music supervision roles

What This Role Offers:

  • Opportunity to work on a diverse slate of feature films and reality TV projects
  • Full ownership across both creative and licensing aspects of music production
  • Exposure to both the legal and creative sides of media production
  • High-impact role collaborating directly with production leadership

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A hybrid creative and operator who understands both music and legal frameworks
  • Strong problem-solver who can navigate licensing challenges efficiently
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex workflows
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in production environments
  • Adaptable and capable of working across multiple projects simultaneously

Additional Notes:

  • Fully remote role with required EST working hours
  • Candidates must submit portfolio/credits demonstrating relevant experience
  • Role requires both creative composition skills and hands-on licensing expertise
