About the Company
Our client is a high-volume residential and commercial garage door repair, installation, and service provider serving homeowners and property managers across the San Francisco Bay Area. Handling over 200 service calls per day and operating in a fast-paced field services environment, the company delivers rapid-response emergency repairs, spring replacements, opener installations, and custom door solutions.
To manage rapid growth and maintain high operational standards across the Bay Area, the company is seeking an experienced, in-person Operations Manager with direct garage door industry experience to oversee field technicians, direct office operations, and drive company revenue.
Role Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Operations Manager to take complete on-site operational ownership of field technician management, customer service operations, technician recruiting, and revenue expansion across the San Francisco Bay Area.
In this role, you will serve as the operational leader on the ground, managing daily field dispatches, hiring and training service technicians, supervising customer service representatives (CSRs), and optimizing job conversions. Utilizing the Dispatch CRM platform, you will streamline daily workflows, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure high technician productivity. Because the business operates as a fast-response service, this in-office role requires a candidate natively familiar with the Bay Area geography and layout, offering the operational flexibility required to support a 24/7 service model (with peak call volume occurring before 10:00 PM).
The ideal candidate is a Bay Area native with 2–5 years of hands-on management experience within the garage door service industry, possessing a proven track record of managing teams, driving sales revenue, and streamlining dispatch operations.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Technician Leadership
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and manage field technicians across the San Francisco Bay Area service territory.
  • Conduct regular field training, safety checks, and upsell coaching to improve technician average ticket sizes and conversion rates.
  • Monitor live field progress, job completion rates, and technician schedules inside the Dispatch CRM platform.
  • Address technician escalations, complex job requirements, and field emergencies promptly.
  • Optimize inventory tracking, truck stock replenishment, and equipment maintenance for field vehicles.
Office Management & Customer Care Coordination
  • Directly supervise in-office Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and dispatch staff to ensure excellent call handling and booking efficiency.
  • Monitor daily call volume (200+ calls/day), ensuring high booking rates and fast dispatch turnarounds for urgent service requests.
  • De-escalate complex customer concerns and ensure exceptional service delivery across all Bay Area neighborhoods.
  • Reconcile daily job receipts, invoicing accuracy, and payment collections across field and office teams.
Revenue Growth & Operational Strategy
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow monthly service revenue and increase average job values.
  • Analyze call metrics, conversion rates, and dispatch routes to eliminate operational bottlenecks and maximize technician productivity.
  • Utilize local Bay Area geographical knowledge to refine service zones, route efficiency, and response times.
  • Partner with executive leadership to set operational targets, track profit margins, and expand service capacity.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of professional operations management experience with direct, hands-on knowledge in the garage door repair and installation industry.
  • Native familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area geography, transportation corridors, and local market dynamics.
  • Proven track record of managing, recruiting, and coaching field technicians to achieve revenue and service targets.
  • Experience supervising in-office customer service representatives and high-volume dispatch operations (handling 100+ daily service calls).
  • Practical experience using the Dispatch CRM platform (or closely equivalent field service scheduling software).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a hands-on, highly accountable management style.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and composure under the pressure of a high-volume, real-time service business.
  • On-site availability to work full-time in the Bay Area office (Monday–Friday) with operational flexibility to support off-hour calls when required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Former experience as a garage door technician, service manager, or dispatch lead.
  • Deep knowledge of garage door parts, springs, openers, commercial systems, and repair pricing structures.
  • Track record of designing commission structures, sales incentives, and performance management frameworks for field technicians.
