Employment Type: Full time, independent contractor
Work Model: Remote
Work Hours: US work hours
About the Role: We produce social media content for a roster of clients, including automotive dealerships and other local businesses. Our team shoots the footage and our editor cuts the videos. We're looking for a Social Media Manager to take those finished videos across the finish line: light final touches, accurate captions, and scheduling everything through Metricool at least one week ahead.
You'll also keep our clients' feeds current with what's working on social right now. That means researching trending formats and sounds, recreating them for our clients where you can, and writing clear production guidance so our shooting and editing team can recreate them where you can't.
When a client has no video available, you'll create image and carousel posts from scratch using AI and design tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Higgsfield, Canva, CapCut, and similar), so the feed never goes quiet.
This role is for someone who learns a process once, follows it exactly, and works independently without needing check-ins. You will not be micromanaged, and in exchange we expect you to not need to be.
What You'll Do
Publishing (primary)
-
Receive edited videos from our editor and make minor final adjustments as needed: trimming, cropping to vertical, text overlays, adding audio.
-
Write accurate, on-brand captions with each client's approved call to action.
-
Publish each video to every required channel: Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
-
Schedule all client posts in Metricool a minimum of one week in advance, every week, without being reminded.
Trend research and replication
-
Actively monitor TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts for trending formats, sounds, hooks, and post styles relevant to each client's industry.
-
Recreate trending content for clients directly when it can be done with existing footage or design tools.
-
When new footage is needed, write a short production brief for our team: reference link, the shot list, on-screen text, audio, length, and what makes the original work.
-
Keep a running list of trend ideas per client so there is always a next post ready to go.
Original content (when video isn't available)
-
Create image posts and carousels using Canva, ChatGPT, Claude, Higgsfield, CapCut, and related tools.
-
Match each client's brand, tone, and existing feed.
-
Submit every post you create from scratch for approval before it is scheduled or published. Nothing original goes live unapproved.
Quality control
-
Proofread every caption for spelling, grammar, and punctuation before submitting.
-
Fact-check every post against the source material. If the post is about SUVs, the visuals show SUVs, not sedans.
-
When using numbers (prices, mileage, carats, etc.), make it unmistakable what the number refers to.
-
Fast learner. You pick up a new tool or workflow after one walkthrough and don't need it explained again.
-
Follows directions the first time. If we tell you something once, it's done that way going forward. Repeat instructions are a red flag for us.
-
Self-managing. You can run a weekly publishing calendar for multiple clients without anyone checking on you. You keep the schedule at least one week ahead on your own.
-
Plugged into what's trending. You spend time on TikTok and Reels, you notice when a format is taking off, and you can explain why it works well enough for someone else to recreate it.
-
Detail-obsessed. You catch typos, wrong numbers, and mismatched visuals before we do.
-
Comfortable with AI tools. You already use ChatGPT, Claude, or similar in your workflow and can direct them to produce usable creative, then judge whether the output is actually good.
-
Reliable communicator. You flag problems early, ask a question once, and confirm when things are done.
