Responsible for administering driver licensing examinations and determining applicant eligibility for driver's licenses, permits, and identification cards. Verifies identity, citizenship, residency, and other required documents on; conducts automobile, motorcycle, and commercial driver license (CDL) testing; evaluates driving performance and compliance with state and federal requirements; processes licensing transactions; provides customer service and information to the public; maintains accurate records; and assists with office operations, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance.

The Motor Vehicle Examiner position requires basic knowledge of customer service principles and practices, as well as familiarity with computer systems and office software. The position requires strong customer service and verbal and written communication skills to effectively assist applicants and explain licensing requirements. Employees must be able to communicate professionally with the public, work independently and as part of a team, and conduct road tests safely and objectively. The position also requires the ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
