Spire Leicester Hospital is looking for a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dedicated Pre‑Operative Assessment team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a hospital recognised for delivering exceptional patient care across the East Midlands and beyond.

Responsibilities
~1 min readIn this pivotal role, you’ll help ensure our patients are fully prepared for their upcoming procedures. No two days will be the same. You will:
- →Support the Lead Nurse in running a safe, effective, patient‑centred pre‑assessment service.
- →Provide and coordinate pre‑operative assessments, collaborating with Consultants, Anaesthetists, and wider clinical teams.
- →Deliver exceptional nursing care across a variety of specialities.
- →Use your clinical expertise to communicate sensitive and complex information with clarity and compassion.
- →Promote best practice in health and safety, infection control, and clinical governance.
- →Help continuously improve patient experience and departmental processes.
- →Mentor junior colleagues and deputise for senior staff when required.
- →Uphold NMC standards, safeguarding policies, confidentiality requirements, and our organisational values.
You’ll be a confident, caring professional who is committed to delivering the highest standards of clinical care.
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Strong clinical experience, ideally with some pre‑assessment exposure
- Previous surgical environment experience
- Competence across a range of nursing skills
- Up‑to‑date mandatory training, including infection control & health and safety
- Sound understanding of CQC standards and accountable practice
- Strong clinical reasoning skills and confidence working with varied and complex patient cases
- Equipment and medical devices competency
- Experience or understanding of Root Cause Analysis
