The Opportunity
Spotter Security is hiring an Account Manager – Electronic Security Solutions to grow new and existing business across Ontario, primarily in the GTA/GTHA. This is an ideal next step for someone with approximately 3+ years of electronic security experience, primarily in sales, account management or another customer-facing role, who has developed a solid foundation and is ready to take greater ownership of the complete sales cycle. For more than 20 years, Spotter has designed, installed and supported commercial video surveillance, access control, intrusion alarm, live monitoring, mobile surveillance and cloud security solutions across North America. Our business has been built differently from many transactional security companies. We work with large commercial and multi-site organizations that value quality products, knowledgeable advice and excellent service and support. Many of these customer relationships have grown over years as we help them expand, upgrade and modernize their security systems. That means our sales cycles aren't always fast, and that's intentional. We focus on building long-term customer relationships rather than chasing every bid or competing to be the lowest price. We're looking for someone who wants to learn that approach and become a stronger consultative salesperson.
What You'll Do
  • Manage new and existing B2B customer opportunities from discovery through close and ongoing account development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and past customers through regular phone, video and in-person communication.
  • Facilitate inbound leads and new opportunities while conducting targeted prospecting with existing, past and prospective customers.
  • Conduct virtual and onsite meetings, customer discovery and security site surveys.
  • Understand customers' existing security environments and identify opportunities for upgrades, replacements, expansions and additional services.
  • Develop practical video surveillance, access control, alarm and related electronic security solutions.
  • Select appropriate products and equipment based on customer requirements.
  • Prepare scopes of work, quotations and proposals, including equipment and estimated installation labour.
  • Present recommendations, guide opportunities through the sales process and follow up consistently and professionally.
  • Grow existing accounts through appropriate upsell and cross-sell opportunities, including recurring monitoring, cloud, mobile and maintenance services.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline information in Salesforce and stay disciplined about follow-up and opportunity management.
  • Partner with technical and Operations teams on system design and for a smooth handoff from sales through installation and ongoing support.
  • Stay current with electronic security technology and learn Spotter's approach to solution design, estimating and consultative selling.

How We Sell
At Spotter, we build relationships, not transactions. Our Account Managers aren't expected to simply produce as many quotes as possible. We want them to understand the customer's business, their existing security environment and where their needs are heading. That could mean helping a customer upgrade an aging video system, expand access control to another facility, add monitoring services, move technology to the cloud or develop a longer-term security strategy across multiple locations. We believe the time between sales is just as important as the sale itself. Staying in touch, following up properly, asking good questions and becoming a trusted resource creates relationships that can grow substantially over time. We're looking for someone who already understands the fundamentals of electronic security and sales, but who is also willing to learn. We'll teach you how Spotter approaches customers, develops opportunities and builds long-term accounts.
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in electronic security, low-voltage systems or a closely related technical-systems environment, ideally with meaningful sales or account-management experience.
  • Working knowledge of video surveillance and access control, including concepts such as IP networking, PoE, NVR/VMS, readers and door hardware.
  • Customer-facing B2B sales, technical sales, estimating, sales support or account-management experience.
  • An understanding of the sales process, including discovery, solution development, quoting, follow-up and closing.
  • The ability to build relationships over the phone, through video meetings and in person.
  • Experience developing practical security solutions, selecting appropriate products and estimating installation requirements.
  • Strong listening, communication, organization and follow-through, with the confidence to discuss technical solutions in plain language.
  • A consultative mindset and an interest in understanding a customer's longer-term needs rather than simply pursuing the next transaction.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies, products and sales approaches.
  • Ability to work independently from home while collaborating closely with Sales, technical and Operations colleagues.
  • Valid driver's licence, reliable vehicle and ability to travel across the GTA/GTHA and occasionally elsewhere in Ontario.
Technical installation or service experience is an asset, but this is ultimately a sales and account-management position. We're looking for someone who understands electronic security and has a foundation in sales, but still wants to learn, develop and take the next step in their career.
How We Work Spotter is primarily a remote company. This role is primarily remote/field-based, with optional access to our Markham office and customer/site travel typically averaging 1 day per week. That environment isn't for everyone. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, managing their own schedule and engaging customers remotely by phone and video as naturally as they would in person. We don't believe capable employees need to be micromanaged. Once you're trained and have the tools you need, we expect you to take ownership of your responsibilities and we'll give you the autonomy to do that. In return, we value accountability, communication and follow-through.
Why Join Spotter
  • Trust and autonomy. We hire capable people and give them room to do their jobs rather than managing over their shoulder.
  • Work-life balance. We take our customers and responsibilities seriously while recognizing that people should have a healthy life outside of work.
  • Career progression. This is an opportunity to progress into complete account ownership, with coaching on Spotter's products, design standards, estimating and consultative sales process.
  • Long-term customer relationships. Work with established commercial and multi-site organizations where relationships can grow across systems, services and locations over many years.
  • Learn a consultative approach to security sales. We'll teach you the methods Spotter has developed over more than 20 years rather than expecting you to arrive knowing everything.
  • Opportunity to contribute. We're a growing company where individual employees can make a meaningful impact.
  • Primarily remote/field-based work, with optional access to the Markham office and regular customer/site visits.
  • An established team and service model built around trust, technical knowledge, responsiveness and problem solving.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Base salary: $55,000–$70,000, based on experience and technical background.
  • Meaningful uncapped commission; expected total compensation is approximately $70,000–$90,000+ in Year 1, with a path to $80,000–$100,000+ in Year 2 and beyond for strong performance.
  • Business-kilometre reimbursement, $50 monthly cell phone allowance, and company-provided computer and required equipment.
  • Two weeks' paid vacation to start, with flexibility to discuss three weeks based on experience, plus four paid sick days annually.

The Person Who Will Thrive Here You've already learned the fundamentals of electronic security and sales. Now you're looking for somewhere you can become better at it. You want to understand customers rather than simply quote them. You want to build accounts rather than chase transactions. You're comfortable being accountable for your work without someone constantly checking on you. And you want to join a company where you can contribute, continue learning and build a successful career while still maintaining a life outside of work. If that sounds like the kind of environment you're looking for, we'd like to hear from you.
