Stand Together is a philanthropic community that helps America’s boldest changemakers tackle the root causes of our country’s biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. We provide our partners with access to resources including funding, thought leadership, a network of peers, and a playbook for applying proven principles to transform lives and society.

As Director of Marketing Strategy, you will lead the marketing vision and strategy for our highest-priority policy and advocacy campaigns. This role requires a seasoned strategist who can translate complex policy ideas into compelling, community-rooted narratives that inspire belief and drive action.

You’ll serve as a key member of our business Strategy Groups, working closely with the Portfolio Manager, Communications Director, Digital Campaign Manager, and Creative Strategist to align business objectives, campaign priorities, and audience engagement across all channels. You will guide the development and execution of integrated marketing strategies that reinforce our grassroots brand’s positioning while advancing short and long-term policy outcomes.

  • Lead the development of long-term federal policy positioning and campaign strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and audience insights.
  • Translate public policy priorities into issue-based marketing strategies that mobilize grassroots communities and create measurable policy impact.
  • Serve as the primary marketing advisor to Grassroots Business Portfolio Managers and collaborate closely with senior leaders across marketing, comms, grassroots, government affairs and policy teams.
  •

  • Oversee the strategic planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns for national policy initiatives—from concept through performance optimization.
  • Partner with the Digital Campaign Manager to build and manage full-funnel marketing journeys that convert audiences from awareness to sustained action.
  • Ensure our grassroots voice and brand identity are consistently applied across all internal and external marketing efforts.
  •

  • Collaborate with the Creative Strategist and in-house/external creative teams to ensure creative outputs align with strategic objectives and resonate with key audiences.
  • Guide the development of evergreen content strategies that increase awareness and support of our policy solutions while elevating our grassroots brands and experts as thought-leaders.
  •

  • Partner with research and insights teams to measure campaign performance, draw actionable insights, and continuously improve strategy and execution.
  • Define and track KPIs that reflect both brand health and campaign-specific outcomes, sharing results with internal and external stakeholders.
  •

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across creative, digital, communications, grassroots, and events teams to ensure integration and maximize marketing impact.
  • Manage relationships with agency partners, freelancers, and vendors to expand our grassroots marketing capabilities as needed.
  •

  • Manage campaign budgets, resource planning, and timelines with support from project management and operations teams.
  • Develop and implement marketing playbooks, creative briefs, audience profiles, and content calendars to drive clarity and excellence in execution.
  • 8+ years of marketing strategy experience, ideally in cause-based, issue advocacy, or community-rooted campaigns.
  • Proven success in translating organizational vision and high-level objectives into strategic and actionable integrated marketing plans with clear goals and KPIs.
  • Demonstrated experience understanding the needs of different audience/stakeholder segments and developing appropriate and innovative marketing products and communication strategies.
  • A proven leader and team player with experience in inspiring and collaborating with cross-functional teams by promoting a clear vision to support shared business priorities.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills—able to lead through influence across multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.
  • Competitive benefits: Enjoy a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, flexible time off, comprehensive health and dental plans, plus wellness and mental health support through Peloton and Talkspace.
  • A meaningful career: Join a passionate community of over 1,300 employees dedicated to improving lives and driving innovative solutions to complex social challenges.
