OVERVIEW/FUNCTION
Ryan Herco Flow Solution’s Custom Solution Group (RHFS CSG) provides custom fluidic system assemblies and components to its customers. The Product Engineer works both independently and with others to engineer, design, and develop products and necessary manufacturing practices to satisfy customer needs. This role is involved from initial definition of product requirements through quoting, sale, design acceptance, release to production, manufacturing, test, shipment, and commissioning.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, SKILL, and EXPERIENCE:”:
- Engineering degree from a reputable engineering school (preferably ABET-accredited) in the fields of mechanical, chemical, industrial, manufacturing, or electrical engineering. Those with associates degrees in engineering technology or significant relevant work experience will also be considered. (The job title may be adjusted to fit educational/experience background.)
- Demonstrated proficiency in both written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess a strong, process-oriented attention to detail.
- Knowledge of fluid handling/process piping components, systems and practices
- Knowledge of production processes related to plastic machining, welding, fabrication, and fluidic system assembly and commissioning
- Demonstrated experience with 3D CAD modeling (preferably SolidWorks)
- 2D design experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar software
- Demonstrated ability to design and detail components and assemblies for manufacturing
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all work in a safe manner.
- Promptly report safety issues and any unsafe behavior of others to management.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Consult with sales and customers to determine and interpret requirements for new product requests.
- Generate quote input for new product requests.
- Design products that meet requirements using CAD and CAE tools.
- Specify components/materials for product designs.
- Generate necessary calculations to validate component sizing, strength, or other considerations that affect product design and function.
- Create documentation packages (which may include CAD models, drawings, production work instructions, product information sheets, or user manuals and operating/maintenance instructions) for product designs.
- Maintain CAD and documentation data in the company CAD archive / PDM system.
- Maintain definition of parts, BOM’s, and routing records in the company ERP software.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing; supervise product manufacturing as required. Provide hands-on manufacturing/assembly support for product designs if necessary.
- Maintain project schedules and perform key work on time to meet customer expectations.
