The Assistant Park's Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance operations within an assigned Parks Division District/Area of the city. This position provides technical support to supervisory and management staff and performs skilled work related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of parks, facilities, buildings, athletic fields, grounds, and aquatic features.
Responsibilities

- →Recommend purchases of major parks, equipment and supplies.
- →Evaluate unit operations and activities; recommend and implement improvements and
- →Establish schedules and methods for parks and open space maintenance and construction activities.
- →Perform high-level maintenance duties including turf management, landscape construction, tree care, irrigation systems, snow removal, and facility winterization.
- →Apply insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers using appropriate equipment and safety
- →Perform preventive and routine maintenance on all park vehicles and equipment.
- →Inspect, evaluate, and document the condition of parks, facilities, and amenities; report findings and recommend corrective actions.
- →Assist in budget preparation and administration, including cost estimates, justifications, and expenditure monitoring.
- Tools, equipment, and maintenance techniques used in parks operations.
- Safety procedures and regulations.
- Managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks.
- Organizing and scheduling workloads to meet deadlines.
- Monitoring equipment and mechanical systems for proper operation.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Lift and move objects weighing 50–75 pounds.
- Work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally with the public and staff.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use hands to handle objects and tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Duties require sufficient mobility and coordination of multiple limbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to loud noise, moving equipment, fumes, chemicals, and uneven terrain. Occasional work at heights or near moving mechanical parts is required.
Requirements
~1 min read- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Four (4) years of related grounds and facilities maintenance experience, including one (1) year in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Utah Class D Driver's License.
- Availability to work holidays, weekends, rotating 24-hour standby, and occasional on-call duty.
