Principal Quality Assurance Specialist

STR delivers technology advantage into users’ hands, from space to sub-surface. Current efforts include programs for airborne and space RF, undersea systems focused on both passive and active applications, and advanced testing enabled by multi-function, multi-modal capabilities.
STR is seeking a Principal Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to work with Leadership and across STR organizations to develop and implement procedures and infrastructure related to QA as the company increases its product offerings. The candidate will apply their familiarity with industry best practices and experiences in developing and implementing QA plans, risk reduction activities, and associated other activities as they apply to an organization that conducts research & development activities, e.g. light fabrication, assembly, integration, and test (in-house and field).
Strong interpersonal, communication, and applicable technical skills are required. Applicants are expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented and have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with teammates through strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Collaboratively develop QA strategies that scale from prototype development through low rate and full rate production
- →Provide leadership and guidance to setup high-level best practices that are scalable and tailorable across STR program types
- →Provide subject matter expert review and feedback of relevant documents, procedures, etc.
- →Provide technical guidance to programs as related to QA. This can include but is not limited to recommendations on testing and verification, component and vendor selection, issue/failure root cause determination and resolution, inspections, and audits
- →Aid in developing and monitoring metrics relevant to QA, e.g. adoption, identification of systemic issues, etc.
- Deep and applied understanding of relevant QA standards and practices
- Experience in developing and implementing QA practices in an R&D environment that works with electronic and electro-mechanical hardware
- Capable of effectively working in a team environment
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by the U.S. Government
- 10 years of directly applicable experience
- Degree related to Quality Assurance. Applicable experience will be considered.
Pay Information
Equivalent Full-Time Salary Range: $220,000 - $275,000
The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
