We are looking for a strategic, data-driven, and entrepreneurial Category Manager to take full ownership of their category, identify the next viral winning products, and build unbeatable supplier partnerships that fuel our merchants' success.



Role Overview

As a Category Mangement Manager at Taager, you are a leader of leaders. You will own the overarching commercial strategy, GMV growth, and market dominance for four distinct business units. Your job is to mentor and guide your team of Category Managers, standardizing winning playbooks while respecting the unique operational demands of each sector—from high-ticket Electronics warranties to high-turnover Consumables velocity. You will sit at the intersection of macroeconomic forecasting, high-level supplier alliances, and cross-functional leadership to scale Taager's entire product ecosystem.



Key Responsibilities

1. Own Category Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Lead an Aggressive Growth Strategy: Oversee the commercial development of 4 key categories (Electronics, Consumables, Leisure & Home + 1 additional), guiding your Category Managers to execute market dominance playbooks.
  • Macro Whitespace Identification: Track regional macro-trends, competitor benchmarking, and platform-wide merchant demand analysis to guide your team toward untapped product gaps and high-margin niches.
  • Portfolio Commercialization: Approve and optimize pricing, promotion, and overarching assortment frameworks to maximize platform GMV, conversion rates, and long-term merchant retention.

2. Data-Driven Product Curation & Supplier Partnerships

  • Strategic Portfolio Governance: Supervise the health of the SKU portfolios across all 4 categories, ensuring Category Managers are leveraging rigorous sales analytics, conversion rates, and social commerce trends.
  • High-Value Supplier Alliances: Step in to anchor high-level negotiations and secure exclusive platform deals, first-to-market launches, and deeply differentiated offerings with major manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Assortment Architecture: Direct the optimal product lifecycle mix (balancing viral "hero" items, steady everyday consumables, and seasonal leisure/home must-haves) to guarantee year-round platform stability.

3. Cross-Functional Growth Execution

  • Marketing & Growth Synergy: Partner directly with the Marketing leadership team to align category-specific campaigns, major flash sales, and influencer-driven promotions into a unified commercial calendar.
  • Supply Chain & Operations Optimization: Collaborate with Supply Chain and Fulfillment directors to ensure absolute inventory efficiency, fast turnaround times, and optimal stock turnover across all categories.
  • Merchant Success Integration: Work alongside Merchant Success teams to transform seller feedback into strategic adjustments for product curation and supplier accountability.

4. Innovate & Scale Category Excellence

  • Pilot New Commercial Models: Champion next-generation commercial experiments across your categories, including product bundling, subscription structures, and localized/regional assortments.
  • Leadership & Team Mentorship: Directly manage, mentor, and upskill 4 Category Managers, establishing clear KPIs, building high-performing capabilities, and defining career paths within the team.
  • Process Standardization: Infuse a hyper-analytical, "test-and-learn" culture across the department, ensuring all managers leverage data, A/B testing, and market experiments to optimize their portfolios.

  • Management of Managers: A proven capability to lead, develop, and drive accountability through mid-level commercial managers rather than just managing independent contributors.
  • Advanced Commercial Acumen: The ability to convert complex market data into macro-level category strategies that scale across highly diverse product types (e.g., tech vs. FMCG).
  • Master Negotiation Skills: Highly persuasive communicator capable of building executive-level relationships and closing exclusive supplier agreements.
  • Entrepreneurial Agility: A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced startup environments; possesses a strong bias for action and an innate sense for predicting the next viral consumer trends.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Years of Experience: 5–7 years in E-commerce, Retail Merchandising, B2B marketplaces, or Category Management.
  • Leadership Track Record: Minimum of 1–3 years of experience directly managing other category managers or team leads.
  • Multi-Category Expertise: Direct exposure to managing or overseeing diverse retail segments, specifically Consumer Electronics, Consumables/FMCG, or Home Goods/Leisure.
  • Analytical Toolkit: High proficiency in Excel, with practical experience utilizing SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, or other BI tools to drive data-driven decision-making.
