We live by TAFE NSW values: Customer First, Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence. They define who we are, how we work and inspire our performance.

We invest in our people

At TAFE NSW, you will discover a diverse, dynamic, and collaborative environment, where you can innovate, create value, and do meaningful work.

We provide you with tools and ongoing training and professional development, health and wellbeing programs, and a variety of flexible working options.

About the role

We are seeking exceptional educators to inspire and shape the next generation of sports turf management professionals. This is an opportunity to bring your industry expertise to life, guiding students as they build practical skills, achieve nationally recognised qualifications, and progress toward rewarding careers across sports turf management, golf course maintenance, stadium and sporting field operations, turf production, groundskeeping, irrigation management, and related sectors.

You will apply current, industry-aligned knowledge to design and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences that reflect contemporary turfgrass management practices, sustainable turf maintenance techniques, and industry best practice. You will deliver training across a range of environments, including face-to-face classroom settings, practical training facilities, sporting venues, golf courses, industry worksites, and online learning environments, ensuring students develop the practical skills and technical knowledge required to succeed in a highly specialised and evolving industry.

In this dynamic field, you will play a critical role in developing the practical, technical, and problem-solving capabilities of your learners while fostering a strong understanding of turfgrass identification and selection, soil and turf nutrition, irrigation systems, integrated pest and disease management, sports field renovation and maintenance, environmental sustainability, and workplace safety. We are looking for educators who combine extensive sports turf industry experience with a passion for teaching excellence. In return, you'll be supported to thrive in a collaborative environment that values industry currency, innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement, helping to develop the skilled workforce that maintains and enhances Australia's sporting and recreational facilities.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (AHC31310) or higher.
  • Have a minimum of three years post-qualification industry experience relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
  • Hold evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document here for details.
  • Be prepared to develop and maintain your VET knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency, and trainer/assessor competence.
