Per Diem - Staff Nurse

The Per Diem Staff Nurse in the Ambulatory Day Surgery Unit provides professional nursing care to all adult surgical patients and their families.  Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care.  Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care.  Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel.  Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s standard of care, and the institution’s mission and goals.

*Graduate from an Accredited Nursing Program

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - Highly Preferred

* One (1) year acute care experience - PREFERRED.

* Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse

* Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

* Ability to asess and reasses patients  admitted to the Surgery Unit

* Ability to perform assigned point of care testing (ex. Glucometer)

* Computer application skills - ALLSCRIPTS and Microsoft Excel

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
