We’re searching for a Medical Laboratory Scientist Associate, someone who’s ready to be part of a growing team with amazing opportunities. In this position, you’ll perform technical laboratory procedures, analyze statistical data, and report results to be used for prediction and diagnoses of disease and provision of quality patient care.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Validates specimen identification per hospital and departmental policies and procedures and appropriateness of sample type and size; processes according to specimen handling protocols defined in standard operating procedures

Organizes workload to prioritize specimen samples using first-in-first out so that patient results are released within 60 minutes from time of receipt

Performs routine and special test procedures accurately according to the policies & procedures, recognizing and troubleshooting questionable orders and results, delta checking and repeating tests when necessary  

Reviews quality control data and performs troubleshooting and corrective actions as necessary

Coordinates and documents correlation studies for new lot numbers of QC material per defined protocols and as assigned by a Manager or Technical Leader

Performs the daily, weekly, monthly, and unscheduled instrument maintenance and calibration to ensure proper functioning of instruments  

Troubleshoots instrument problems and makes minor repairs when applicable by consulting the manuals or calling technical support

Demonstrates theoretical and practical knowledge of the procedures and instrumentation; maintains skills and demonstrates competency via performance, documentation, and observation by supervisory staff

Participates in continuing education and in-service programs by attending section meetings, vendor sponsored workshops, and seminars; reads professional publications and reviews procedure manuals and attends classes

Analyzes College of American Pathologists (CAP) and other proficiency testing samples and obtains accurate results in a timely manner

Orders supplies in a timely manner to maintain adequate stock for continuous testing, minimizing wastage due to expiration of unused reagents

 

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology field required

1 year of laboratory experience required
