Truck Driver - Home and Building Depot - Nevis The Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading, transportation, and delivery of materials while ensuring compliance with safety standards and traffic regulations. The role includes supervising an assigned porter while on the road, maintaining vehicle readiness, completing required documentation, and promptly reporting any incidents or issues. JOB DUTIES: · Responsible for handling materials in terms of loading them properly and safely, taking into consideration the weight and tonnage of the vehicle. · Follow all safety precautions in the operation of his vehicle. · Ensure that all traffic regulations are complied with. · Wear the necessary safety gear when loading and offloading trucks, and while on the construction site and also ensure that the assigned porter complies with these safety operations. · Deliver all goods promptly and ensure that all relevant documents are signed upon delivery of goods. · The driver becomes the supervisor when the truck is on the road, he is in command and is solely responsible for his attendant/porter and must ensure that the attendant carries out his duties efficiently and professionally. · Comply with the daily checklist and ensure that the vehicles are clean and in good mechanical order before leaving the yard at mornings. · Immediately report any accidents or difficulties they might be encountering while on the road. Requirements · Must possess the license required to operate and drive the assigned vehicle. · Must have at least one year of experience in driving that type of vehicle. · Must be polite and provide customers with good customer service when making deliveries. · All drivers must be knowledgeable about products and must be able to read and understand documents given to them. · The driver should have full knowledge and operation of his vehicle, including basic mechanics of his vehicle.
