As a Software Engineer, you are a rapid and effective problem solver. You write, review, and deploy code daily—usually TypeScript. You architect, build, and maintain resilient and scalable software solutions to meet Tekton’s various software needs. You will work with urgency to fix system errors with other software engineers and colleagues when they occur. Your work will have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.

• Work on all aspects of the software life cycle becoming an expert in full-stack software systems

• Contribute to the development of Tekton.com and other internal systems such as our ERP, WMS and PIM

• Collaborate across departments to define and implement project requirements

• Troubleshoot bugs and implement fixes to quickly address system issues blocking coworkers and customers

• Develop robust automated tests to ensure software system stability

• Solve business needs considering when software is the best solution

• Communicate effectively with coworkers with various areas of expertise

• You are aligned with Tekton’s philosophy, ways of thinking, and work style

• You are skilled at writing, reading, and maintaining code with a team

• You are good at understanding user needs and turning them into simple solutions

• You enjoy working through the fog of a problem to find a clear solution

• You get excited about learning the details about how something works

• You have a solid understanding of the internet and the TCP/IP stack

• You are comfortable working with command line interfaces

• Background in computer science or equivalent experience

• Experience with programming languages, web frameworks, and relational databases

$70,000 - $130,000 per year

Full-time employees receive health, dental, vision, life, hospital indemnity, and long-term disability insurance; paid time off; a 401(k) program; and tuition reimbursement.

This is a full-time salaried position located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There may be times when you will be expected to fix issues during non-standard working hours.

Head of Technology

The Technology Department oversees the entire lifecycle of internal and public software systems and also maintains all technology services and security. The Software team works closely with all areas of the company to create custom system solutions for daily business operations and to ensure Tekton.com delivers a world-class website experience to users. The Information Technology team maintains our internet services, manages technology security, and ensures we have the hardware needed to operate; they are the frontline of support whenever any IT equipment or service isn't working like it should.
