Tia is building a new model for women’s healthcare, one that treats women as whole people, not separate conditions or life stages. By integrating primary care, mental health, gynecology, dermatology, and wellness across both in-person and virtual settings, Tia is improving outcomes, lowering costs, and creating a better experience for patients and providers alike.
Tia is on a mission to transform healthcare for women by increasing access, improving outcomes, and delivering a better care experience. Our “Whole Woman, Whole Life” model integrates primary care, gynecology, mental health, dermatology, and wellness across in-person care and a national virtual platform.
We are a Series D, venture-backed company trusted by more than 120,000 women across four markets. Through our technology-enabled care model and partnerships with leading health systems, Tia is building one of the most comprehensive preventive care models for women.
About the Role
~1 min readAt Tia, our business teams support the people, processes, and systems that make women’s healthcare possible. From credentialing providers to supporting clinic operations, too much of their time goes toward repetitive tasks, moving information between systems, tracking paperwork, and rebuilding reports.
As our Business Automation Engineer, you’ll help teams spend more time on the work that needs their expertise. You’ll partner with People Operations, Credentialing, Clinical Operations, Data, Product, Business Analytics, and other teams to understand their workflows and build practical solutions using automation, AI, and code.
You’ll work with your manager to define problems and priorities, then own projects from discovery through launch and ongoing maintenance. Product partners will support architecture and data decisions. As your portfolio grows, you’ll keep workflows reliable and adapt them as Tia’s needs change.
This role offers the opportunity to apply emerging technology to real business problems and make a measurable difference in how Tia operates.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Work directly with teams to understand how work gets done, including exceptions, workarounds, and handoffs.
- Map workflows and identify where human judgment is essential and where automation can reduce repetitive work.
- Partner with your manager to define project scope, priorities, and measures of success.
- Design and build workflows using n8n or similar automation platforms, AI tools, and Python or JavaScript/Node.js.
- Connect systems through APIs, webhooks, and other integrations.
- Choose the simplest effective solution, whether that is a spreadsheet improvement, standard automation, or an AI-assisted workflow.
- Test normal operations and edge cases, and build in error handling, logging, alerts, and appropriate human review.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot failures, and update workflows as systems, policies, and business needs change.
- Follow Tia’s security, access, and AI governance controls when working with sensitive employee, business, or patient-related information.
- Maintain clear documentation so others can understand, review, and support your work.
- Involve teams throughout discovery, design, and rollout.
- Explain technical decisions in plain language and train teams to use their workflows.
- Enable teams to make appropriate adjustments independently, with clear guidance on when technical support is needed.
- Establish baselines and measure time saved, accuracy, reliability, and adoption after launch.
- Report results honestly, including limitations and approaches that did not work.
- Partner with Product to transition solutions that could become part of Tia’s products.
- Evaluate emerging AI and automation tools and recommend where they can improve business operations.
Requirements
~2 min readWe value the quality of what you’ve built and how you approach problems. Candidates who demonstrate these capabilities through research or independent projects are encouraged to apply, even without traditional professional experience.
- 1+ year of relevant experience in workflow automation, software development, systems integration, or technical operations, or equivalent hands-on experience through internships, research, or substantial independent projects.
- Experience leading a substantial project from an unclear starting point to a working solution.
- Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting workflows in n8n, Zapier, Make, Workato, or a comparable platform, with the ability to learn n8n quickly.
- Ability to write Python or JavaScript/Node.js scripts, call APIs, and handle logic beyond the capabilities of low-code tools.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, and data movement between systems.
- Comfort using SQL to query and validate data, and working with complex Google Sheets.
- Experience applying LLM tools or APIs to practical problems, with an understanding of their limitations, how to evaluate outputs, and when human review is needed.
- Ability to break complex processes into manageable steps and anticipate exceptions and downstream effects.
- A disciplined approach to testing, documentation, monitoring, and handling sensitive data.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to earn trust with nontechnical teams.
- Initiative, persistence, and accountability: you make progress through ambiguity, raise blockers early, and learn from mistakes.
- Experience with Google Workspace automation, including Apps Script.
- Experience building AI workflows that use tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, or agents.
- Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals and how to assess whether a model is appropriate for a task.
- Experience handling sensitive data in healthcare, finance, or another regulated environment.
- Experience measuring operational improvements through time studies or before-and-after comparisons.
Success in this role means:
- Delivering agreed-upon projects and communicating progress and blockers clearly.
- Building workflows that teams adopt and that remain reliable after launch.
- Demonstrating measurable improvements in time spent, accuracy, or process quality.
- Providing documentation and training that help teams use and sustain improvements.
- Identifying opportunities to simplify work while protecting the human judgment and expertise essential to Tia’s operations.
