Tierra del Sol Foundation is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Program Director to oversee the delivery and quality of services provided to adults with developmental disabilities. The Program Director provides leadership and supervision to Program Managers and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), monitors person-centered services, and supports associates in achieving meaningful employment, educational, and life goals.

This position works closely with associates, families, Regional Center representatives, community employers, educational institutions, social service agencies, and other key stakeholders to ensure high-quality, person-centered services and successful long-term outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of services and ensure programs are aligned with each associate’s Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Professional and Personally-Meaningful Life Goals (PPML).
  • Participate in Person-Centered Planning and Circle of Support meetings.
  • Monitor associate progress and support successful transitions into Workforce Development, College to Career, and Careers in the Arts services.
  • Support the development of individualized behavior support plans and provide crisis intervention and case coordination as needed.
  • Develop and maintain employment and educational opportunities that align with each associate’s goals and interests.
  • Oversee billing, attendance, documentation, and maintenance of associate records.
  • Develop and monitor quality assurance systems to ensure consistent, high-quality services.
  • Conduct and monitor monthly Quality Assurance checks at community partner sites.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with employers, volunteer sites, educational institutions, civic organizations, families, Regional Center representatives, and social service agencies.
  • Monitor health and safety practices and address concerns at community locations.
  • Participate in curriculum development and implementation as needed.
  • Provide direct supervision to Program Managers and administrative team members.
  • Coordinate and provide staff training, including instructional, behavioral, and safety strategies.
  • Support Program Managers with staff observations, performance feedback, introductory reviews, and annual evaluations.
  • Promote ongoing professional development and ensure staff have the tools and training necessary to provide effective services.
  • Provide program coverage and direct services as needed to support program operations.
  • Coordinate transportation resources with associates, families, and Regional Center counselors to support successful employment and educational placements.
  • Assist associates in accessing generic transportation services such as Access and Citi-Ride.
  • Regularly work within community-based employment and educational environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in employment services.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with key stakeholders and a variety of funding agencies.
  • Experience providing training, instruction, case management, and positive behavior support to adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to quickly learn a variety of entry-level jobs and conduct task analysis to effectively train associates and DSPs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to assess employer and educational environments and effectively coach staff and associates on workplace expectations and culture.
  • Current California Driver’s License.
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience.
  • Current auto liability insurance.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/Handle with Care certification.
  • Ability and willingness to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel, averaging approximately 140 miles per week.

This position requires the ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, communicate, and work in community-based environments. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds and may be required to physically assist adults with disabilities weighing up to 200 pounds when accessing community transportation.
