Life Sciences Linguist_English>Korean

The Linguistic Specialist is a key player at TransPerfect, whose mastery of a particular language will allow them to provide written translation and proofreading services within the Life Sciences field. The Linguistic Specialist will be responsible for all aspects regarding quality production within certain language/geographic regions.

• Understand TransPerfect’s quality standards and make sure that they are upheld to meet client expectations

• Translate and proofread various types of documents (based on subject matter expertise)

• Edit translation jobs completed by freelance translators

• Ensure translated documents mirror the original source document

• Maintain databases and use translation memories

• Approve/reject client changes to delivered files

• Properly utilize all appropriate supplemental materials (refer to client PAQ, reference materials, translation/interpretation glossaries, etc.), making sure they are consistent throughout jobs

• Efficiently maintain formal disciplined operational procedures across a variety of client projects

• Track project-specific non-conformances and their resolutions

• Provide feedback to Project Managers regarding project-specific non-conformances, their resolutions, and quality of the deliverable

• Be responsible for any errors/omissions associated with a project in which the Linguistic Specialist is involved

• Juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Establish and maintain excellent relationships with Project Managers

• Be flexible with changes of priorities

• Complete any other tasks that are deemed appropriate for the role and assigned by a manager/supervisor

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the Korean (native level) as well as full proficiency in English

• Experience translating or editing documents

• Experience interpreting both into and from a specified language pair

• Exceptional problem solving skills

• Satisfactory results on company tests

• Minimum passing grade (subject to individual language) on appropriate foreign language tests, as applicable

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
