Salary: 80% of Level 6 Step 1 ($32.95 hourly)

Under the supervision of the Hän Language Administrator, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the Hän language and develop the skills to be a Hän Language Teacher for youth and adult language. This role is critical in the successful development and implementation of the Hän Language program to offer more Hän language learning opportunities in the community and on-line learning.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma or equivalent with an interest in Indigenous languages and Indigenous language teaching.
- Knowledge and awareness of Yukon First Nations and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in culture, traditional practices, values and beliefs as well as a good understanding of the past and current issues in education, heritage and languages with a view to past, present, and future.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and a willingness to speak publicly.
- Ability to work as a team member and a willingness and enthusiasm to participate in Hän language program activities, and community wide functions and initiatives, as well as Yukon First Nations Language Teacher professional development.
- Ability to connect and collaborate with other staff, elder speakers, language specials, and learners.
- Willingness to actively promote Hän language within the workplace.
- Computer skills including image formatting software, scanning equipment, word processing, Zoom platform, and Moodle learning platform.
- Ability to use basic office equipment.
Conditions of Employment:

- Class 5 Driver’s License with clear Driver’s Abstract.
- TH101 Cultural Awareness Training.
