This role is a Professional Buyer II for a distributor and oversees and performs purchasing activities related to HVAC products including equipment, parts, and accessories, with guidance and increased supervision. The Buyer will assist in purchasing and managing merchandise, commodities, and products for resale. Ensures 95%+ service levels, and that purchasing‑related duties are performed within budget, cost, deadline, quality, and safety standards. This role strives to maintain a climate that promotes a safe and positive work environment.
This position supports Rheem Northeast Distribution and is based in Burlington, NJ.
- Maintain service levels and fill rates to all RND branches, including regular review of assigned suppliers.
- Ensure accuracy of all cost and sell prices in Epicor Prophet 21 (P21), including timely resale price revisions when costs increase to protect margins.
- Support margin improvement through inventory management by reviewing branch inventory levels, assisting with supplier negotiations, category management, preseason buys (including BlueHawk promotions), and establishing initial pricing with acceptable margin levels for assigned items.
- Work closely with RND suppliers to support service levels and minimize costs on assigned products.
- Monitor inventory levels at all RND branches and prepare purchase orders as needed.
- Support efforts to maximize free inbound freight from suppliers while balancing inventory across branches.
- Establish and maintain productive supplier relationships, including participation in business reviews with RND strategic suppliers.
- Maintain awareness of new products, research new suppliers, and communicate product opportunities to RND branches.
- Stay informed of product knowledge and industry trends through communication with suppliers, territory managers, and branch managers.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships with RND team members.
- Support continual improvement initiatives involving processes and ERP efficiencies.
- Complete other assigned projects and tasks as directed by leadership and management.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 1–3+ years of experience in procurement and/or purchasing.
- Ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and business documents.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and developing problem‑solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and ERP systems (Epicor Prophet 21 preferred).

Equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills may supplement above minimum job requirements.
The pay scale for this position $56,100 - $96,768. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
