General Responsibilities:
Infrastructure provides advanced technical administration, support, and oversight for the IT infrastructure supporting Facilities operations, utilities generation and distribution, building automation systems, and other critical operational technologies. This position is responsible for the administration, integration, reliability, and lifecycle management of infrastructure systems, including physical and virtual servers, storage, backup and recovery platforms, network-connected systems, operating systems, and associated technologies. The role exercises independent judgment in managing complex infrastructure environments, troubleshooting and resolving advanced technical issues, evaluating system requirements, and recommending improvements that enhance reliability, security, performance, and scalability. The position participates in infrastructure planning, system architecture, upgrades, migrations, technology evaluations, and implementation of new solutions while ensuring alignment with university IT and security standards. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 
•    Design, implement, configure, administer, and maintain server and building automation platforms, including physical and virtual infrastructure, operating systems, virtual machines, and supporting runtime environments.
•    Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; perform routine maintenance and apply updates and patches
•    Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, lifecycle replacements, patching, and infrastructure improvements while minimizing service disruption and maintaining compatibility with dependent systems.
•    Serve as an escalation point for complex server, network, virtualization, storage, backup, and application issues; perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to restore services and prevent recurring incidents.
•    Participate in on-call and after-hours support rotations to ensure rapid response to outages and critical incidents
•    Document system configurations, procedures, and changes to support continuity and compliance
•    Provide advanced technical consultation and recommendations to users, client departments, leadership, and project teams regarding infrastructure architecture, system requirements, application hosting, security, and technology solutions.
•    Lead and coordinate infrastructure projects, system implementations, upgrades, migrations, and technical improvements involving internal IT teams, client departments, vendors, and other university stakeholders.
•    Provides technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior IT staff, supporting knowledge transfer, professional development, and consistent administration practices across the team
•    Perform other duties as assigned
 

Salary Pay Range: $57,940 – $75,320
 

Master’s degree in Computer Sciences or a related field and one (1) year of related experience is required or Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or a related field and three (3) years of related experience is required. Additional work experience may substitute for education requirement.
