Project Engineer

About the role

This role will assist the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in the management and delivery of project engineering activities. Working closely with the Project Manager to meet the operational commitments in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including environmental sustainability, WHS activities, systems assurance, risk management, competency, requirement management, procurement, installation, Test and Commissioning, and site supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve engineering targets and objectives as defined in the project program.

• Provide on-site engineering assistance to the construction team for on-site equipment installation.

• Provide and monitor asset data installation, including metrics

• Provide assistance in Construction Support Engineering

• Assist in management of cable schedules and cable stock available   

• Be responsible for the production of Project Documentation (Calculations, Design Reports and Drawings).

• Prepare and issue Inspection & Test documentation.

• Attend project Design Reviews, Safety In Design Reviews, Risk Reviews and Progress meetings.

• Ensure that all elements of the design are coordinated between all design team members.

• Ensure that the design output conforms to all safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements.

• Ensure that the status and revision of design output documentation is maintained.

• Ensure adequacy of the design and that design outputs are checked and approved before release.

• Ensure that engineering change notes (ECN’s) are registered, processed and maintained in accordance with the engineering change control procedures.

• Control of non-Company project documents.

• When required, provide support and engineering input to tenders and business development projects.

• Observe and adhere to company engineering procedures and other related management procedures contained in company UGL WAY repository.

• Adhere to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace.

• This position is responsible and accountable for supporting and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and for adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace. Ensure practices adopted reflect a commitment to the highest standard in OH&S and environment.

• Ensure that all necessary steps are taken to meet the Company’s Environmental licence conditions and to minimise Environmental risks. 

• Build an improvement mindset amongst team members and encourage the right behaviour through use of approved and productive systems.

• Manage your own performance in a way that earns the team’s trust, including consistent modelling of desired behaviour.

• Check design outputs and calculations as required by the Design Package Requirements.

• Check Company project documents where so nominated.

• Review Revision Request documentation.

• This role has the levels of authority as set out in UGL Limited Delegation of Authority Limits. 

• Safety - Authority to enact fully the spirit and intent of UGL’s safety and environment standards.

• Add assist the test lead or TIC during commissioning

About You

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

• Electrical Design Fundamentals (Detail Level)

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure projects

• Chartered Professional Engineer
