The Swamp Tactical Training Center General Manager

Location: On-Site in Maysville, NC

The General Manager holds day-to-day operational authority over The Swamp Tactical Training Center (STTC), a 283-acre live-fire tactical training facility. This role directs facility operations, personnel management, equipment and heavy machinery operations, range maintenance and build-out, and financial and budget oversight, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations. The General Manager serves as the final policy and operational authority on-site, acts as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and visiting agencies, and coordinates laterally with the Director of Sales & Training on range layout, tactical direction, and client relations.

As General Manager, this position holds final authority on:

• Operation of all machinery and non-tactical equipment.

• Safety, maintenance, and training related to equipment.

• Day-to-day operations as related to running a tactical training center

• Structuring daily and weekly workflow in alignment with UG HQ and The Swamp Leadership/Director guidance.

• Hold final authority on day-to-day operations of The Swamp Tactical Training Center, including facilities, non-tactical equipment, and personnel.

• Structure daily and weekly workflow in alignment with UG HQ and The Swamp Leadership/Director guidance.

• Direct manning; hire, schedule, and supervise range, engineering, and grounds personnel, including 1099 contractors.

• Serve as final go/no-go authority on range safety, training operations, equipment use, and site conditions.

• Coordinate laterally with the Director of Sales & Training on range layout, tactical direction, sales support, and client relations.

• Act as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, vendors, and visiting agencies.

• Oversee budget and financial operations for the facility and report to the Vice President on finance, admin, and compliance.

• Maintain admin and compliance records, including training documentation, incident reports, and equipment logs.

• Brief UG HQ and The Swamp Leadership on operations, maintenance phasing, and overall facility readiness.

• Create and manage groundskeeping sectors with a weekly schedule for brush clearing, mowing, and general maintenance.

• Conduct daily briefings with grounds maintenance staff to address direction, safety, and daily goals.

• Maintain a log of equipment hours, project completion times, and machine assignments.

• Oversee the maintenance of all groundskeeping equipment, including fluid changes, blade maintenance, routine service, and repair coordination.

• Ensure safety compliance and training/testing of all personnel using heavy equipment. Final go/no-go authority on equipment operators.

• Schedule and manage grounds crew operations.

• Manage the storage and procurement of groundskeeping equipment and supplies.

• Oversee the filling and maintenance of bulk fuel tanks and proper storage of all fluids and fuel-related materials.

• Maintain and oversee remodels and general upkeep of The Swamp shoot house and ranges.

• Schedule and supervise engineering personnel.

• Implement updates and modifications to training ranges as needed.

• Reset and repair doors and breech points damaged during training exercises.

• Oversee brass collection and general range maintenance.

• Manage purchasing and maintenance of all steel targets.

• Oversee maintenance and repair of all heavy machinery used on the property.

• Operate heavy equipment for range development and property maintenance.

• Supervise and authorize all other heavy equipment operators.

• Manage all budget and financial operations related to The Swamp Tactical Training Center.

• Process administrative financial tasks, including employee day rates and hourly rates for 1099 contractors.

• Report directly to the SVP of Operations on all budgetary and financial matters in relation to operational requirements.

• Prepare and manage maintenance plans for 3-, 6-, and 12-month phases in coordination with UG HQ and The Swamp Leadership.

• Experience operating or maintaining a range facility, such as military range control, a law enforcement training facility, a private range, or a Range Safety Officer/Range Master role.

• Military or law enforcement background, with NCO/SNCO or Officer leadership experience a plus.

• Construction or carpentry skills, including shoot house builds and remodels, doors and breach points, and steel targets.

• Experience managing 1099 contractors and day-rate or hourly workforces.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and run preventive maintenance programs, including equipment hour logs, fluid and service schedules, and multi-phase (3/6/12-month) maintenance plans.

• Knowledge of bulk fuel handling, including tank operation, storage requirements, and spill prevention compliance.

• Experience owning a site safety program, including OSHA standards, equipment operator certification and testing, and incident reporting.

• Proven ability to serve as the site's primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and visiting agencies or units.

• Relevant certifications, such as:

• • NRA Range Safety Officer or Chief Range Safety Officer

• • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

• • Heavy equipment operator certifications

• • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
