Senior Staff Data Engineer (P5) Job Title: Senior Staff Data Engineer – FinOps Platform & Reporting Location: ATL / FL (Weston or Sunrise) / MA About the Role As a Senior Staff Data Engineer – FinOps Platform & Reporting, you will lead the design, development, and evolution of UKG’s Unified FinOps Platform. You will architect and build scalable cloud-native data products that transform cloud cost, billing, usage, telemetry, and operational data into trusted financial insights, forecasting models, and actionable optimization opportunities. This role is responsible for enabling accurate cloud financial governance across AWS and GCP through automated reporting, allocation, forecasting, and unit economics capabilities. You will partner closely with FinOps, Engineering, Finance, Data & Analytics, and Product teams to build the data foundation powering UKG’s FinOps 2.0 strategy and AskFinOps AI platform. Key Responsibilities Platform Architecture & Engineering Leadership Lead architecture and implementation of the Unified FinOps Data Platform. Design scalable cloud-native data solutions supporting cost allocation, forecasting, optimization, and reporting. Define data standards, governance frameworks, and engineering best practices. Serve as technical lead for FinOps data architecture across AWS and GCP environments. Lead DevOps automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and platform reliability initiatives. Enable AI/ML and Generative AI capabilities through scalable data architectures and governed data products. Support AskFinOps AI use cases including forecasting, anomaly detection, and intelligent optimization. Data Products & Pipeline Development Build and maintain enterprise-grade pipelines for: Cloud billing and usage data Cost allocation and chargeback/showback Discount and commitment utilization Application and service telemetry Unit economics and cost-to-serve metrics Develop near real-time ingestion and processing capabilities. Automate reconciliation between cloud provider invoices and financial reporting systems. Forecasting & FinOps Intelligence Enable forecasting and planning models using historical consumption, demand signals, and business growth trends. Partner with FinOps practitioners to improve forecast accuracy and budget governance. Support AI-enabled insights and decision automation capabilities. Reporting & Governance Deliver trusted, SOX-compliant datasets and reporting structures. Establish data quality monitoring, lineage, and observability standards. Create reusable semantic models that serve Finance, Engineering, and Executive stakeholders. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with FinOps, Finance, Product Engineering, Architecture, and Data teams. Mentor engineers and establish engineering standards for the FinOps platform. Drive adoption of data products and self-service reporting capabilities. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years of data engineering experience. 3+ years designing large-scale cloud-native data platforms. Strong expertise in AWS and/or GCP data ecosystems. Advanced SQL and Python development experience. Experience with modern data platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift). Expertise building ETL/ELT pipelines and data orchestration frameworks. Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud automation. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience supporting AI/ML or Generative AI data platforms and solutions. Experience with financial, billing, usage, or operational analytics datasets. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud financial governance. Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar DevOps tools. Experience with Vertex AI, or similar AI platforms, Generative AI tools and AI-enabled analytics platforms. FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional. The pay range for this position is $145,600 to $209,300. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
