    The University of Sydney is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Geology, Geophysics or Earth Science. The primary function of this position is to undertake research and teaching in the field of geology, geophysics or Earth science while also making a significant collaborative contribution to research using methodologies applied to economic geology. Fieldwork experience is essential and a research profile that demonstrates a potential connection towards external collaboration with industry and government is highly desirable.

    The position has responsibility for teaching courses in new and existing curricula at the undergraduate and postgraduate level under the broad theme of economic geology. The applicant will be expected to teach fundamental and advanced concepts in geology effectively in the classroom, field and laboratory, supported by digital-based approaches including virtual training and teaching.

      lead and undertake fieldwork, including the collection of field data to enrich teaching

      build partnerships with industry, academic and government organisations to advance teaching, learning and research outcomes

      develop a research profile appropriate to career stage and opportunity, evidenced through high-quality publications and success in attracting external research funding

      contribute effectively to administrative and service activities across the School

      support the strategic direction of the School, Faculty and University.

    • PhD in geology, geophysics or Earth science

    • holds a current driver’s license.
