About the opportunity:
 
The Sonographer performs diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and comfort. The Sonographer works closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality imaging services.
 
What you will do:
  • Perform all Sonographic examinations according to Vail Health protocols.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, send completed examinations to radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.   
  • Determine the best method of obtaining exams with minimal or no supervision.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and orders when stock is low.
  • Keep the exam room stocked and neat.
  • Identify each patient and reviews exam order for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis.
  • Review consistency of all demographic information including physician’s name and signature, patient’s name, and date.
  • Maintain constructive collaborative communication with patients, families, physicians, co-workers, and other members of health care team to contribute to continuity of care.
  • Maintain established department policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental standards, radiation protection standards, infection control standards, and universal precautions.
  • Maintain working knowledge and use of the Vail Health HIS and PACS computer systems to ensure quality patient documentation.
  • Participate in departmental and team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be HIPAA compliant

What you will need:
 
Experience:
  • Previous experience performing radiographic and ultrasound examinations preferred.
Education:
  • Completion of all educational and clinical requirements to qualify for ARRT or ARDMS examination.
License(s) and Certification(s):
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS by the American Registry of Diagnostic medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Sonography (S) credential required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
