Senior Designer, Structural

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

This position will report to the Manager of Structural Modeling, Design and Draft. This position is located in our Downtown Houston office and is Monday - Friday.

Senior Structural Designer ownership of structural design packages and modeling strategies, ensure accuracy, constructability and efficiency of design deliverables. You’ll be responsible for mentoring Jr. designers, ensuring quality deliverables and driving digital innovation in modeling and drawing automation. Sr. Structural Designer should have 5 –10 years' experience in FEED design, engineering, fabrication, and construction. 

• Experience in large scale Petrochemical, LNG onshore project.
• Lead the development of detailed 3D structural model and drawings using Tekla Structures and S3D. 
• Will assist or review the cost estimates and quantity take-offs for on-going projects, proposals, forecasts, and change-orders. 
• Shall provide technical guidance to contractors/vendors and will generate sketches as needed. 

• →Experience with automated drawing generation with model-based QA/QC workflows. 
• →Experience with Tekla Structures, S3D, & Navisworks. 
• →Generate and check fabrication level drawings, general arrangements, and material take-offs. 
• →Review the submittal from EPC contractors & internal engineering team for Piling, Foundations, Module & Stick Built Steel Pipe Racks/Structures, and provide technical guidance & constructability review comment. 
• →Reviewing, monitoring and ensuring compliance requirements are met for the design (e.g. Standards, specification, model, and local codes and regulations etc.) 
• →Regularly performs reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met. 
• →Considers multiple solutions and makes good decisions based on good data analysis. 
• →Manages several different assignments simultaneously. 
• →Help develop and enforce modeling and drawing standards. 
• →Mentor Jr Designers. 
• →In office 5 days week. 

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with 5 yrs experience or 10 yrs experience in lieu of degree. 
• 5 -10 years' minimum relevant experience in refining and petrochemical industry, LNG Project, preferably with EPC experience. 
• Travel – 20% expected. 
• Self directs work with limited supervision. 
• Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced designers and engineers
