Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Server Liquid Systems

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Server Liquid Systems would work in our new product development (NPD) team responsible for the design, development, and testing of advanced thermal-mechanical solutions. The role focuses on the design, analysis, and integration of liquid-cooing hardware, such as processor cold plates, Rear Door Heat Exchangers (RDHx’s), Thermal Test Vehicles (TTV’s), manifolds, piping systems, and associated components. Other responsibilities include documentation, supplier engagement, collaborating closely with cross-functional team members providing production support during factory manufacturing and integration.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Design cold plates, RDHX assemblies, manifolds, piping systems, and liquid distribution components for new product development and customer-specific solutions.
- →Develop microchannel geometries optimized for pressure drop, heat flux, and manufacturability.
- →Evaluate baseplate materials, surface treatments, and bonding methods.
- →Create detailed 3d models and assemblies in Creo, including parametric, models, drawings, and design intent documentation.
- →Support CFD and FEA analysis for cold plate channel design, manifold flow balancing, and structural integrity.
- →Collaborate with other Vertiv engineers and cross functions to design the best solutions.
- →Part, assembly and assembly drawings for fabrication and integration.
- →Create, maintain, and review bills of materials (BOM’s) with a high degree of accuracy.
- →Provide engineering support to manufacturing during prototype builds, testing, and production.
- →Support Pre-Sales Team in solution development, quotations, solution presentations to customers.
- →Works independently with minimal supervision from lead project engineer(s) and/or manager.
- →Manages multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situations arise.
- →Work directly with Procurement and material vendors on component sourcing and selection.
- →Participate in and lead group discussions.
- →3D printing prototype parts
- →May oversee and advise on the design and CAD work of others as needed.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design roles involving thermal-mechanical solutions, fluid systems, and/or cooling hardware.
- Familiarity with data center cooling technologies, ASHRAE guidelines, and industry best practices are preferred.
- Proficient modeling skills required, preferred in Creo.
- Ability to read, interpret and produce drawings and equipment specifications.
- Interpreting customer specification requirements.
- Demonstrates excellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Works independently and is highly motivated to initiate and accept new challenges.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
