The mission of the Department of Psychiatry is to provide clinical psychological services including treatment, consultation, and liaison in the VCU Health System and teaching/supervision to trainees and Health System medical providers.
The department seeks candidates to provide treatment, consultation, and liaison services within designated VCU Health System programs. Provide teaching and supervision in the Health Psychology Postdoctoral and Psychiatry residency programs.
Responsibilities
~1 min read1. Clinical- Areas of concentration primarily include eating disorders and other areas of health psychology. Candidates will primarily be responsible for providing evidence-based psychotherapy to patients with eating disorders and other related disorders, as well as aiding in consultation and liaison services.
2. Teaching-Supervision of psychology postdoctoral fellows and doctoral level psychology students and opportunities to teach other trainees (including psychiatry residents, graduate program practicum students, undergraduate psychology students).
3. Service- Assist in training within the health psychology postdoctoral fellowship; service on appropriate committees of the department, university, and health system. Provide national and local leadership, advocacy, and public education/public policy guidance related to health behaviors research.

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology from an APA accredited program, advanced training and experience in clinical psychology, licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Experience or interest in areas of clinical and/or health psychology, including eating disorders as well as other areas of interest.
•Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
• APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology.
• Postdoctoral psychology training in eating disorders treatment.
• Demonstrated training and proficiency in evidence-based treatments for eating disorders including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy-enhanced (CBT-E), cognitive behavioral therapy for avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, and/or family-based treatment, or a willingness to learn these modalities.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in multidisciplinary research collaborations developing approaches to challenging behavioral problems related to clinical/health psychology.
