About the role

We require an experienced and qualified classroom teacher for a full-time position commencing term 2 2026. 

St Paul’s College is a Catholic specialist school located in Balwyn, dedicated to supporting children aged 5 to 18 years with intellectual disabilities. Many of our students also experience coexisting conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, sensory impairments, genetic syndromes, and complex communication needs.

We are deeply committed to working in partnership with families to help each student reach their full potential. To support this goal, the College offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary allied health program, delivered through a client-focused approach.

Become part of a highly skilled team including teachers, teaching assistants, speech therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and a school nurse.

 

The Role

As a Classroom Teacher, you will:

  • Provide a supportive learning environment for students with diverse learning, emotional, behavioural, medical, and physical disabilities.
  • Design, prepare, implement, and monitor Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in consultation with Student Support Groups (SSGs), including parents, carers, and allied health professionals.
  • Support school programs and activities, including excursions and Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Participate in Professional Learning Teams and contribute to curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Supervise and support teacher assistants, volunteers, and others assigned to your classroom.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families to maintain a safe and constructive classroom atmosphere.
  • Visit alternative placements for dual-school students to ensure consistency and support.
  • Maintain class records and attend to students’ personal and physical needs.
  • Participate in playground duty and uphold the school’s commitment to child safety.

What We’re Looking For

  • Appropriate teaching qualification
  • Registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Special Education qualification
  • Experience working in a specialist school (Prep to Lower Primary)
