Bring-Up & Manufacturing Electrical Engineer
Quick Summary
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience. 4+ years in hardware development, test engineering, or board bring-up.
Waabi, founded by AI visionary Raquel Urtasun, is the leader in Physical AI. With a world-class team, we're unlocking the next era of autonomous transportation with technology that's powering commercial autonomous trucks and robotaxis. Waabi is backed by and partners with world leaders in AI, automotive, logistics, and deep tech.
With offices in Toronto, San Francisco, Dallas, and Pittsburgh, Waabi is growing quickly and looking for diverse, innovative and collaborative candidates who want to impact the world in a positive way. To learn more visit: www.waabi.ai
Waabi builds generative AI for the physical world, starting with autonomous trucks. Turning that intelligence into road-ready hardware takes someone who can take a board from a design file to a validated, assembled unit — and who reaches for the soldering iron, the scope, and the terminal when something doesn't behave the way the schematic says it should.
As a Bring-Up & Manufacturing Electrical Engineer, you'll be the person who makes our custom electronics real. You'll bring up new boards, debug them down to the root cause, partner with our contract manufacturers to get them built at quality, and stand up the test fixtures and V&V that prove they're ready for the vehicle. You'll report to the Electrical Engineering Team Lead and work closely with our design, quality, and technician teams.

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
-
4+ years in hardware development, test engineering, or board bring-up.
-
Fluency with bench instrumentation — oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and multimeter — and the ability to read a schematic and reason from it to a root cause.
-
Hands-on rework and soldering skills (IPC-A-610 or equivalent), including fine-pitch and BGA-adjacent work.
-
Comfort with JTAG/boundary scan and firmware flashing, and enough scripting (typically Python) to automate test fixtures and bring-up procedures.
-
A maker's instinct: happy to get your hands dirty in the lab and disciplined about documenting what you find.
-
Experience partnering with a contract manufacturer through a build or NPI cycle.
-
Familiarity with automotive or other high-reliability quality standards.
-
A track record of improving designs, processes, and the way the team works — you spot the rough edges and smooth them.
