Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo Operations exists to deliver the Waymo Driver to the world. We are a global team building and scaling the world's first and leading autonomous fleet and operations platform. From component sourcing to end customer management, we enable and create value for Waymo through scaled and orchestrated deployment of the Waymo Driver. At Waymo, we are dedicated to building a culture that promotes collaboration and celebration. We value our team members' unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences and support and encourage all team members to share their ideas to help Waymo better serve the communities in which we operate.

In this hybrid role, you will report to the Head of Waymo Training and Documentation.

  • Lead the localization and internationalization strategy for all of Waymo Operations, ensuring all Internal documentation and training is culturally and operationally relevant across global regions.
  • Drive nomenclature standardization across various regions and Lines of Business (LOBs) to ensure operational consistency while respecting local nuances and regulatory requirements.

  • Project manage the end-to-end translation and localization lifecycle for hundreds of technical artifacts, acting as the primary point of person for content parity between training materials and  Internal Knowledge Base (IKB).
  • Set the roadmap for global expansion by ensuring all documentation is "market-ready," enabling new regions to achieve successful launches with high learning proficiency and safety outcomes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, legal, and regional ops teams to ensure that localized content meets the specific safety-critical and regulatory needs of each unique market.
  • Own the quality and integrity of translated technical content, ensuring that "translation" never comes at the expense of technical accuracy or safety compliance.

  • 8+ years of experience in localization, internationalization, or technical project management, specifically within complex operational or fleet environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume documentation portfolios (100+ assets) across multiple regions, with a focus on maintaining version control and content parity.
  • Expert knowledge of localization tools (TMS) and methodologies, with a deep understanding of how to adapt technical SOPs and IKBs for international audiences.
  • Successful track record of leading large-scale projects in high-pace environments where business-critical deadlines and high volumes of change are the norm.
  • Strong expertise in managing global vendors and extended workforces to deliver high-quality localized content within budget and on schedule.
  • Advanced understanding of "Internationalization vs. Localization" principles, specifically regarding how to build "global-first" documentation templates that reduce future translation friction.
  • Experience in workflow optimization and process excellence, specifically in automating the hand-off between content creators and localization teams.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical operations where precise nomenclature and clear instructions are vital to risk mitigation and regulatory adherence.
