The Department Manager 3 is responsible for developing and delivering health education programs and initiatives designed to promote healthy behaviors and improve the overall well-being of individuals and communities. This position is responsible for conducting educational sessions, creating informative materials, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and community partners to address public health issues effectively.
Required Tasks
- Outreach and Education:
- Health Education Programs: Develop, implement, and evaluate health education programs and materials that target specific health issues or promote general wellness.
- Educational Sessions: Conduct engaging and informative health education sessions, workshops, and presentations for diverse audiences, such as schools, community groups, and healthcare settings.
- Content Development: Create and update educational materials, including brochures, pamphlets, videos, and online resources, to support health education initiatives.
- Needs Assessment: Assess the health education needs of the target population or community through surveys, interviews, and data analysis.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, and schools to coordinate and enhance health education efforts.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of health education programs and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
- Health Promotion: Promote healthy behaviors, disease prevention, and the utilization of healthcare services through various outreach strategies.
- Cultural Competency: Recognize and respect cultural differences and tailor health education materials and approaches to meet the needs of diverse populations.
- Advocacy: Advocate for public health policies and initiatives that support health education and improved community health.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Regular Status; AND
- Bachelor's degree in health education, public health, or a related field; AND
- At least 3 years of experience in health education or a related role, which must include data collection and program evaluation.
- CHES (certified health education specialist) certification is preferred but not required
- Additional equivalent experience or education may be used in lieu of the requirements at the discretion of the Department of Personnel/Human Resources.
