Business Systems Analyst - Engineering

 The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst to join our team. The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works within the Software Development organization to ensure that business needs are accurately captured, translated, and delivered as effective software solutions. The Engineering BSA partners directly with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the Engineering organization.

This position is 100% onsite

The BSA collaborates daily with software engineers and business stakeholders to define requirements, design application functionality, and oversee development through structured project‑management tools and methodologies. They apply strong knowledge of standard business practices, ensuring that software solutions align with operational workflows, compliance needs, and enterprise strategy.

• →Requirements and Process Analysis: Gather and validate business requirements through direct engagement with SMEs; document business rules, workflows, data needs, dependencies, and constraints; analyze current-state processes and help define future-state improvements. 

• →Functional Specifications: Translate business needs into user stories, functional specifications, process maps, acceptance criteria, and other documentation needed for development. 

• →Work Management Use standard project/work-management tools for planning, tracking progress, managing timelines, and ensuring delivery of software features and fixes; break approved requirements into appropriately scoped units of work; create and maintain work items (such as epics/features, user stories, tasks, defects, and enhancement requests); document, and track as applicable, priorities, dependencies, risks, scope, acceptance criteria; maintain schedules and milestones; publish status updates and dashboards.
• →Delivery Coordination: Review work items with the Applications Lead and development team; support backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, and release planning; track blockers, dependencies, decisions, and scope changes. 

• →Technical Collaboration: Work with developers that are writing and supporting applications and also with database specialists. Understand application behavior, data flows, integrations, and technical constraints at a functional level. 

• →Testing and Validation: Develop test scenarios and test cases; support functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing; document defects and validate completed functionality against approved requirements. 

• →Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business users, SMEs, developers, technical teams, and leadership. Communicate requirements, decisions, risks, and changes clearly. 

• →Support and Change Management: Assist with application issue triage, root-cause analysis, release validation, user communications, training materials, procedures, and documentation; guide business units through effective change adoption by supporting training, communication, and smooth transitions to new or updated applications.

• →Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve data quality and usability, strengthen controls, and increase application value. 

• →Reporting and Data Validation: Use existing reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and queries to support requirements validation, issue investigation, and reporting improvements. 

Required Qualifications

• →Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• →3 or more years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or enterprise application support.
• →Strong understanding of standard business practices in Engineering organization.

• →Experience gathering, documenting, and validating requirements. 

• →Experience creating process maps, user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, or similar documentation. 

• →Experience using Jira or a comparable work-management platform. 

• →Experience supporting functional testing and user acceptance testing. 

• →Ability to understand business, engineering, and manufacturing applications, workflows, data relationships, and system integrations. 

• →Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

• →Ability to work effectively with SMEs, end users, developers, technical teams, and leadership. 
• →U.S. citizenship is required
• →Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. • Experienced in Project Management (PMP, CAPM) or Program Management. 

• Experience supporting Engineering, Manufacturing, ERP, MES, PLM, WMS, or related enterprise applications. 

• Experience in engineering, aerospace, or regulated environment. 

• Knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, quality, inventory, inspection, audit, item master, traceability, or corrective-action processes. 

• Familiarity with modern software frameworks, libraries, databases, APIs, and reporting tools (e.g., React, .NET Core, MSSQL, Postgres, FastAPI, or similar technologies). 

• Experience with Agile, Scrum, SDLC, or DevOps delivery practices. 

• Familiarity with Jira workflows, dashboards, filters, and reports.
