Woodston Personnel are excited to offer an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Specialist with a background in stroke to join our client’s healthcare team in KSA. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Stroke is an advanced practitioner responsible for providing expert, evidence-based care to patients who have experienced a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). The role spans the entire patient pathway—from acute care through rehabilitation and discharge planning—ensuring timely intervention, optimal recovery, and continuity of care. The CNS acts as a key liaison between patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team, while also contributing to service development, education, and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced assessment and management of patients presenting with acute stroke and TIA.

  • Support rapid assessment pathways, including thrombolysis and thrombectomy eligibility where appropriate.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

  • Monitor neurological status and manage complications associated with stroke.

  • Facilitate early supported discharge and coordinate rehabilitation pathways.

  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring care is patient-centered and aligned with individual needs and preferences.

  • Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families throughout the care journey.

  • Promote secondary prevention strategies, including lifestyle modification and medication adherence.

  • Educate nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on stroke recognition, management, and best practices.

  • Lead or support training initiatives such as stroke awareness (e.g., FAST assessment).

  • Develop patient education materials relating to stroke recovery and prevention.

  • Work collaboratively with neurologists, stroke physicians, therapists, and community services.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of stroke care pathways and protocols.

  • Act as a clinical leader and role model within the stroke service.

  • Participate in clinical audit, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives related to stroke care.

  • Contribute to national stroke audits and local quality improvement projects.

  • Ensure care delivery aligns with current guidelines and best practice standards.

  • Coordinate discharge planning, ensuring seamless transition to community or rehabilitation services.

  • Liaise with primary care providers, community nursing teams, and specialist services.

  • Support follow-up clinics and long-term stroke management.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with professional and legal standards.

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, health and safety, and organizational policies.
