About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

=========================================================================
Toyota is redefining what it means to move. We're challenging the current state of mobility by enhancing the movement of people, goods, information and energy. Centered around three core concepts - A Living Laboratory™, Human-Centered, and Ever Evolving City™ - Woven City serves as a test course for mobility to fulfill our purpose of well-being for all.

We do this by bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared passion for the future of mobility to co-create, develop and refine innovative products and services. This cross-section of social infrastructure, mobility, and people provides a unique opportunity for inventors, residents and visitors to interact seamlessly with new technologies throughout daily life in an environment that emulates a real city.

Decarb Venture Studio is a venture creation organization within Woven by Toyota. Our mission is to democratize decarbonization: to move decarbonization from the work of a limited number of specialists into an accessible, practical activity that every organization and every person can take part in.

We combine the ownership, speed, and creativity of a startup with the scale, credibility, and real-world learning opportunities of Toyota. We do not build from assumptions alone. We learn from complex, real operations, identify repeatable patterns, and transform those insights into scalable software products that can create value far beyond Toyota.

Our first venture has moved from proof of concept into beta development. It is a B2B application that unifies operational infrastructure data such as electricity, gas, fuel, and water. We are building its data foundation using advanced IoT, AI, blockchain, and cloud technologies. We care as deeply about intuitive, consumer-grade user experience as we do about technical sophistication.

Decarb Venture Studio will not stop at one product. We will commercialize and scale the first service while continuously exploring the next opportunity through customer discovery, proofs of concept, and prototypes.
We follow a hybrid workstyle, combining office and remote work. Additionally, depending on future circumstances, business trips to Toyota Motor Corporation or the Toyota Group may be required.

We are looking for a builder who began by writing production software, developed the judgment to lead engineering execution, and then broadened their impact into product management and venture creation.

This role owns the journey from beta development through commercial launch and early scale. You will translate complex customer operations into simple product experiences, lead external engineering teams with technical depth, and make decisions across architecture, security, reliability, delivery, and user experience.

You will also help discover what comes next. While scaling the first product, you will validate new customer problems and turn promising ideas into proofs of concept and prototypes.

This is not a coordination-only role and it is not a role for maintaining a mature product. It is for someone who wants to build software from reality, commercialize it, and repeat the process.
  • Own a Venture: Own one venture from beta through commercialization and early scale while contributing to future PoCs and prototypes
  • Transform Reality into Products: Translate customer reality and Toyota-scale operational learnings into reusable product capabilities, requirements, roadmaps, and intuitive UX
  • Lead Engineering: Own external engineering delivery, architecture, security, quality, CI/CD, and technical decision-making
  • Commercialize the Product: Drive adoption, product-market fit, onboarding, and monetization through analytics, experimentation, and customer learning
  • Create the Next Venture: Identify new customer problems and validate technical and market hypotheses for future ventures
  • Hands-on Engineering: Deep early-career software engineering experience building production systems
  • Engineering Leadership: Experience leading engineering delivery before or alongside product management
  • Product Delivery: Experience taking B2B software from discovery through commercialization and continuous improvement
  • Technical Judgment: Strong capability across architecture, cloud, APIs, security, CI/CD, and external engineering management
  • Communication & Ownership: Native-level Japanese proficiency sufficient to understand context and nuance, business-level English proficiency sufficient to exchange information within the team, and the ability to thrive in an ambiguous startup environment
  • Experience taking a software product from zero to one, from beta to paid launch, or from early adoption to scale in a startup or founding team
  • Experience in industrial software, energy management, climate tech, manufacturing, IoT, time-series data, digital twins, or operational technology
  • Hands-on or management experience with AI/ML products, data platforms, blockchain-based data trust, or high-volume sensor data
  • Experience partnering closely with product designers and improving complex B2B workflows through user research and product analytics
  • Experience with pricing, packaging, monetization, billing, or enterprise SaaS commercialization
  • Experience working across Japanese and international teams, customers, and technology partners
