About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM
Monitoring for driver inattentiveness, including visual distraction and eye closure, using in-cabin cameras will become a standard safety feature in new vehicles. Our challenges include how to handle the monitoring of drivers, passenger and driving environments and how to handle anything that could obstruct the camera from recognizing facial features, such as eyewear or facial hair. For the next-generation In-cabin Monitoring System (IMS) development, we aim to enhance capabilities, improve robustness, and expand use cases to make sure drivers maintain the appropriate level of focus depending on the situation and level of automation in the vehicle.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about making safe, driverless vehicles a reality and is excited to work with us in creating a better future for mobility. Our daily tasks include developing software for vehicles, evaluating the software through simulation and in actual vehicles, then performing skillful big data analysis and implementing further improvements. You have solid experience developing hardware and software from the planning phase to product release including post-release maintenance. You will also develop utility tools to improve our work.

  • Develop the software for in-cabin monitoring with matlab/simulink
  • Evaluate image recognition software and identify improvement areas
  • Understand human behaviors while driving and develop corresponding behavior detection technologies
  • Provide a product owner with technical assistance to define product roadmap
  • Collaborate with other developers and contractors in managing software implementation
  • Come to the office 3 days per week per our hybrid work policy, and report to the manager in charge of IMS development
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Business level proficiency in Japanese (equivalent to JLPT-N1) and conversational English (TOEIC score of 600 or higher)
  • At least 3 years experience in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C, C++,  or other major programming languages
  • Experience in evaluation of image recognition systems, human sensing systems, or any other related products in the industry
  • Experience in human-centric development using qualitative and/or quantitative methods such as experiments and user studies
  • Experience in software development in AWS
  • Knowledge of advanced data science and analytics
  • Experience developing mass-produced products
  • Experience working  in a Agile/Scrum working environment
  • Work experience outside of Japan
