Why we're hiring:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to join our Enterprise Data Group. In this role, you will partner closely with FP&A, Finance Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Product teams to deliver strategic finance data and analytics initiatives. Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, you will ensure finance requirements are translated into scalable data solutions that support planning, forecasting, management reporting, and business performance analysis across WPP.
What you'll be doing:
- Business Partnership: Act as the primary liaison between FP&A, Finance Analytics, and Enterprise Data teams, ensuring business priorities are clearly understood and translated into actionable delivery plans.
- Requirements Management: Facilitate discovery workshops and requirements gathering sessions with finance stakeholders, documenting business processes, reporting requirements, KPIs, and data needs.
- Delivery Management: Lead the end-to-end delivery of finance data and analytics initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
- Roadmap & Prioritisation: Work with Finance and Data leadership to manage project backlogs, delivery roadmaps, dependencies, and priorities across multiple initiatives.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with senior finance leaders, FP&A teams, technical teams, and external partners to drive alignment and successful outcomes.
- Data & Analytics Enablement: Coordinate the delivery of data models, reporting solutions, dashboards, planning tools, and analytics capabilities that support financial decision-making.
- Risk & Dependency Management: Identify risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges across business and technical teams, implementing mitigation strategies where required.
- Governance & Controls: Ensure projects adhere to organisational governance standards, SDLC requirements, audit controls, and financial data management policies.
- Communication & Reporting: Provide regular project status updates, executive summaries, and steering committee reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, planning cycles, reporting capabilities, and stakeholder engagement models.
What you'll need:
- Minimum of 5 years of project or programme management experience supporting Finance, FP&A, Analytics, Data, or Business Intelligence initiatives.
- Experience working with both business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ideally within a complex global organisation.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master) are a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of data and analytics delivery, including data warehousing, reporting, business intelligence, financial planning processes, and data governance principles.
- Experience supporting finance transformation, management reporting, forecasting, budgeting, or performance management initiatives is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Monday.com).
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Compliance: Familiarity with managing projects against Risk & Controls. Well versed in SDLC and Audit requirements
- Familiarity with finance and analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Services, Anaplan, SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the media and advertising industry.
- Working knowledge if Atlassian suite of products inc. JIRA & Confluence
- Knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance standards.
- Experience supporting FP&A, Finance Transformation, or Enterprise Finance functions.
- Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial performance management processes.
- Experience delivering data and analytics solutions in a cloud-based environment.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and product operating models.
- Experience operating within a matrixed global organisation.
