Who are we?

We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.

Life today is increasingly complicated, uncertain and unpredictable. People move through different careers, face unexpected moments and navigate important choices. We offer our colleagues flexibility, trust and benefits that work for whatever life brings. In return we expect curiosity, connection, accountability and high standards. We make room for what matters - so you can bring your best, every day.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the next phase of our Employee Relations and Colleague Wellbeing offering.  You’ll lead and develop a team of ER professional, embed our colleague wellbeing model and strengthen the operational foundations needed to delivery a consistent, high-quality colleague experience.

As part of the Employee Relations team, you’ll help transform our approach from reactive case management to proactive, insight-led outcomes.  You’ll establish clear controls, improve processes and capacity planning, while setting and embedding high standards for service and experience.

The role combines people leadership, stakeholder influencing, wellbeing strategy and planning, and oversight of case management.   You’ll have the opportunity to influence both our strategic direction and ways of working, putting colleague experience at the heart of how we deliver the right outcomes.

What are we looking for?

  • An experience and inclusive people leader who can develop high-performing employee relations teams and lead confidently through change.

  • Broad employee relations and colleague wellbeing expertise, with particular strength in absence management and health-related casework.

  • Sound judgement and the ability to balance employment law, regulatory and commercial considerations with a fair and positive colleague experience.

  • The credibility and influencing skills to build trusted relationships with operational leaders, senior stakeholders and our staff association.

  • Experience improving ER operations, including case management, governance, controls, processes, capacity planning and ways of working.

  • A strategic and evidence-led approach to wellbeing, translating organisational needs and emerging trends into practical priorities and sustainable business outcomes.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, using data and insight to identify themes, challenge established approaches and deliver meaningful change.

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.

We’re reviewing applications as they come in and may close this role before the closing date, so apply early to avoid missing out.
